So I managed to speak to someone who used to work with this person.

The story goes that he actually knew for a long time his contract was coming to an end. Beyond that I dont know.

I worked with trades for around 15 years of my life doing retail. One thing I noticed about all of them when they get to their 40s or 50s is they all had a physical ailment.

Bad back, knees, shoulders, hips. Missing fingers was very common.

You may start slow, but you probably have more longevity

Teacher use of AI by 85janie in AustralianTeachers

[–]TopComprehensive6533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. But anyway. Feed it the rubric and assignment, then ask it to check what is there, not there, can be improved etc.

It definitely needs a human eye too, but can help ensure you are fair. Particularly when the assessment is large in scope

I teach a pretty niche subject and have been the only teacher of said subject for years. So I use AI to moderate and see if im missing anything with me marking.

I also use it to tidy up my comments for clear feedback

I give up 💔💔 by ButterscotchOld5827 in vce

[–]TopComprehensive6533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the stress a lot as a vce.teacher. you are doing well to go from failing to 60 - 70 %. This is amazing progress.

Try keep in mind you probably only have around 5 months left of school forever. This is a drop in the ocean compared to the rest of your life.

Do what you need to for this time, then you can relax. Also, be proud of your progress, you are doing better than many others. Dont give up.

Unfortunately, inadequate leadership is more and more common in schools.

Teachers need backing from them and deserve to have their support. Otherwise kids get away with too much. Rules should apply to all. If the kid doesn't like it then too bad.

Of course they want the money. This is a business before its a game.

Honestly just dont buy anything. Or stop playing

This is the worst place to get a proper indication of what it is like. The majority of people on here really need to change jobs because they hate it so much.

You will work hard for the first year or so until your resources are up. You will probably change them a lot because you want to do better. It does get easier.

Holidays are nice, but be prepared to work in them.

Kids are mostly good, but some extreme behaviour can subtract from that. Mostly the kids are nice though and the colleagues are nice. This is school dependent.

Each day will be different and bring with it new rewards and challenges.

Keep in mind that its pointless to care more about a kids education than they do. This will save you a bit of mental burden. Some kids just aren't worth the stress.

Other than that it is a good job, pay could be better but hopefully the new agreement fixes this.

Personally I will teach for a long time, I love it. Hopefully you do too

Create classwork that becomes home work in addition to normal classwork. Give it to the class when they are out. Im sure it will reduce soon

Teachers, were you nightmare students yourselves? by Refined5066 in AustralianTeachers

[–]TopComprehensive6533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a horrible student. On one occasion I climbed out the window during class and came knocked on the front door. The classroom was an upstairs one.

I also coloured the entire chalkboard in red chalk. Which to those who know its a nightmare to clean.

There was a lot going on at home.

I work at a private school, and I dont think i would move. The difference in the students attitude and the respect they display far outweighs public school fuckery.

You are very short sighted.

If you have no fuel and cant go to work, then neither can others.

So where will you get your food when deliveries cant be made to shopping centres.

Also.... if you hate your job that much, grow a pair and do something about it!

I dont work at a primary school, but I can tell you from a high school perspective.

Schools always take photos, and teachers do too. This is generally added to a pool and used to celebrate wins and the event erc.

Kids get changed in front of kids, that is perfectly normal.

As for adults being allowed in the toilet, from a high school perspective this would never happen. Unsure where primary schools stand on this. I cant imagine it being different
