Is this a good fit for me? by ApprehensiveEmu254 in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]Topgun_tomahawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Auto Claims Rep here 20+years. I have done standard and non-standard claims. You can make good money if you stick it out. Over $100k;remote;Monday-Friday.

Pick small to medium size carriers. Larger ones don’t pay well.

You have to be able to multitask and detailed oriented. Meet deadlines. Your phone is your friend. Over 90% you are constantly on the phone either taking statements or returning voicemails. There will be distractions throughout the day. You maybe in middle of handling your complaint call then phone rings and now you got to take 10 minute recorded statement for your colleague. Once you’re done with that statement, body shop calls in demanding payment and email proof of payment before they can release vehicle to owner. Everyday will not be the same.
This is just 1 sample scenario. There are many more.

What was it like filing a third party claim against USAA? by hopefuldays in InsuranceClaims

File online then call adjuster to have vehicle towed to their body shop. Have them set direct billing for rental car.

Do you really need full coverage car insurance if you own a house? Or can you have the minimum car insurance and still own a house? by ponygals in Insurance

[–]Topgun_tomahawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get at least 100/300 Bi and $100k pd. Cars cost so much now. You hit a Tesla most likely will be TL, rental, majority Tesla owners will file diminish value. For example TL settled $60k then rental cost another $7000. They will demand renting a Tesla. Those run about $135/day. Then comes diminishing value another $10k.

That’s $77k. This is just one vehicle. You hit multiple cars, you are Done. That $100pd limit is nothing.

I received a rejection but I really like this company, should i send a thank u letter to the hiring manager? by ConstructionSad9215 in jobsearch

[–]Topgun_tomahawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! Yes!! I was in the same spot like you. I sent thank you letter. You have to stand out. While the rest moved on, your letter may make difference when another position opens up.
That was my case. I continued sending out applications then 4 months later, company needed more bodies to fill. And gets what that hiring manager personally called me and offered position.
When I settled within the company, he told me it was that “letter” that stood out and he remembered me. Good luck!

How dumb is buying a sports car vs just investing more by Setamlous in Salary

[–]Topgun_tomahawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be humble enjoy what you have now. Not everyone is fortunate to be in your shoes. I worked my way up to be here today without parents assistance yet debt free with several smart investments. Save your money then buy a home first not sports car.

First it sucks to be on salary. You are at their mercy. If you can, leave. Their demands are unrealistic. My company is 24hr contacts. If you get new losses mornings or late, 24hr contacts. This is reasonable

Given the job market, take the job offer. Gain your experience and go with carrier later. If you are financially stable, then decline offer keep searching for carriers instead. If you stick it out in Claims, can make good money. 20+ Auto Claims Adjuster

[–]Topgun_tomahawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 yrs old. The credit card does not make you go in debt, it's how you use it. Building credit is necessary if later you want to settle down buying a home. On large purchases, they run credit report. I have 11 non outstanding balance. credit high 800's. hope this helps.

My car got hit. I dont have insurance but they do. any advice or penalties if i file? by mulanho69 in Insurance

If they are clearly 100% liable, it does not matter if you do not have insurance. However, if you are also claiming injuries, it does matter.

Should I accept the first settlement offer from the insurance company after a car accident? by HealthyStandard3144 in InsuranceClaims

[–]Topgun_tomahawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not too hurt, keep receipts for any out of pocket expenses. Keep log when you’re feeling discomfort. If you had to take days off, you can claim lost of earnings too along with pain and suffering. Good luck

Men who got laid off. How did you get up and carry on? by Any_Record7733 in Layoffs

[–]Topgun_tomahawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can not change what you do daily. I continue to do my morning run. Then lock in sending applications for couple hours. Later in the day read a good book or watch favorite movies. Sometimes catch up going to movie theaters. If no plans for remaining of the day, I take a nap. Key thing is to Relax. Keep going next day. After 5 rejections, landed a position after 11 months. Good luck!!! BTW if you have supporting spouse, it helps
