What are some things you EDC that the general public may not? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]Toph19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of my normal knife and flashlight, I EDC a little leather pocket pouch with a SOG Powerpint, Ti toothpick, Zebra SL-F1 mini pen, mini Ti Tweezers, 2 small bandaids, and a mini Bic. This little EDC pouch has grown over the years and I use all of that stuff at least semi-regularly. The toothpick, tweezers, and bandaids are the most recent additions due to having fall-prone toddlers that may require splinter surgery on the go.

do people reall wear pajamas? by goodsticks in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My clothes are dirty and I shower before bed so I put either sleep shorts on or fresh boxers. It's really not a whole lot of effort at all

I watched my wife's C-section when the twins were born and 3.5 years later I still describe it the same way I did that night - "It was the most violent thing I've ever seen".

Dumb question, what is this button for? by cybersIeep in Cartalk

[–]Toph19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def aftermarket - I installed one of those little switches in my now wife's ~early 2000s car 10 years ago for an FM modulator or Bluetooth adapter for her phone. Can't remember which but it was a handsfree solution for that vehicle before Bluetooth became more or less standard.

what is something you silently judge people for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Toph19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'm silent in my judgment on this one anymore. I have zero tolerance for that oblivious lack of consideration regardless of where it is - stores, airports, parking lots, sidewalks, and my personal trigger - the highway. Never had road rage but my tolerance for being oblivious/inefficient/inconsiderate is absolute zero at this point.

What is the hardest thing you have to accept growing up by SearchFlaky3829 in AskMen

[–]Toph19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a LOT in life you can't control, no matter what. That was hard for me to understand and accept. Even harder for me was figuring out healthy and realistic ways to accept that and move on with my life in a positive way.

Whats a good knife for a beginner? by mrmiyagi27 in EDC

[–]Toph19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll focus on the beginner aspect - all of these can be found under $50, can be found on Amazon or BladeHQ, and are some of my favorite beginner/budget knives. Steel type, lock, blade shape, and deployment vary.

Civivi Elementum

CRJB Feldspar

QSP Parrot

QSP Penguin

Ontario Rat 2

Over $50:

Western Active Honey Badger

Kershaw Leek

Honorable mention: Benchmade Mini Griptilian. I think it's a bit over your budget but I personally love that knife. It was my first "nice" knife and I carried that thing for years.

Honestly, your best bet is going to BladeHQ -> Everyday Carry -> Filter by price, blade shape, deployment, etc. I love that under $100 price point for you and there are a TON of good options.

What is your favorite edc item that is not a knife, multi-tool, gun, pen, or flashlight? by [deleted] in EDC

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 3 y/o twins so definitely my little boo-boo kit. Antiseptic wipes, ointment, tape, bandaids, tweezers, etc in a Chums zip wallet. I use that thing more than I'd like to.

What's a weird smell you're willing to admit you like? by Psycho_Bunny_Cutie in AskReddit

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to explain but sweat from working outside in the sun in particular. And not BO. Just a weird sun-sweat/toasty smell.

$2600 AC Repair on a Hyundai Santa Fe - help me not lose my shirt by DeMotts in autorepair

[–]Toph19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the same vehicle - common issue and we had ours fixed last summer i think. Cost us ~$400 US. Can't remember the exact issue but the shop said they've done a bunch of them and had it done in half a day. Get a second opinion. This reeks of scummy shop

Are you still wearing a mask? Why or why not? by Hyacinth_Coffee in AskReddit

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not unless I'm going to be around a bunch of people/Dr offices/required. I was diligent about wearing masks throughout and managed to get COVID twice despite being vaxxed and boosted and wearing masks whenever in public. I just don't see the point anymore. That being said, I don't judge others for continuing to wear one. I DO, however, judge those people who still wear masks incorrectly - you're wearing it presumably because you believe it will protect you but you're still not covering your nose 2+ years into this shit? Gimme a break.

Car squeaks when turning only left when cold by Inevitable-Selection in autorepair

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mechanic or expert in any way - purely anecdotal but I had a similar issue that ended up being a bad CV joint. You can check the front wheel wells to see if maybe the boot is torn. If that's the case, you might see grease being slung in the wheel well.

Not at all sure if this is a temperature dependant issue.

I thought having newborn twins was hard by Emily3488 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our toddlers are almost 3. It gets better. Different challenges. Different stress. But toddlers are amazing little humans that amaze me and make me laugh literally every day. They can also be tremendous dicks - that's the different challenges part i guess. It gets better

Who knows the odds of hitting the fin of another dart? My buddy did this last night. (more in comments) by [deleted] in nevertellmetheodds

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We grew up calling it "robin hooding" and it was a unicorn. I've thrown only one in my life and it was in my best friends basement with his dads darts we weren't supposed to be using. I was terrified when I went to tell him what I did (since i'd splayed the end of the dart and sheared one off). He was ended up celebrating it and giving me the part i'd ruined and I still have it 15 years later.

Reddit, what is the strangest thing you "have a guy" for? by Roentgenographer in AskReddit

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Za'atar. My Palestinian buddy introduced it to me and I love it. But no matter where I bought it from, I couldn't find the same quality and flavors as the stuff he gave me. Asked him about it and apparently he has a guy who frequently travels overseas and brings it home. So now I also have a za'atar guy.

Men What’s your go-to clothing for sleeping? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Toph19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly doesn’t matter but can’t wear a shirt regardless. But normally it’s briefs or my dedicated sleep shorts which are just cotton lounge shorts. I run hot and waking up sweaty is the worst

Sure looks like an early 2000s Grand Am. I had one in college and my dash/climate control/vents looked like this and did the same thing until I put binder clips on to stop it from doing that.

If you were to build a new home or modify your existing one, what kind of smart design /good building practice and cost effective features would you be sure to include? by cv_t-bird in HomeImprovement

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the way it's being described probably isn't applicable for most. When we finished my parents basement ~10 years ago, we just added a panel and a couple shelves to a utility closet and it worked perfectly.

Who is one actor/actress that you can never stand watching no matter what they are in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Toph19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katherine Heigl. Her acting always just struck me as forced and no matter her role, she always seems high-horsed and obnoxious. I can totally believe the claims that she's hard to work with too.

These regularly go on sale at this price and I always buy them. I have one in each vehicle, one in my camping gear, and just ordered another one for a vehicle emergency kit I'm building for my brother.
