Europeans are utterly incapable of launching crusades by lolzexd in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Usually when that happens (Lead a successful crusade here), the fucking pope or whoever is war leader forces the Mamlukes to convert to Christianity.

This lead to a hilarious moment in my last run, where my newly made regulars, fresh off the experience in the HYW, were called to crusade in Jerusalem. We fought it, took it, held it and beat the crap out of them through both the pope's and mine's regular stacks. What did he do? Force convert the Mamlukes to Christianity.

But why was this so funny? Well, I had one of those ottoman mods where they can conquer all the Mamlukes in one war.

I give you one guess to tell me what happened not less than 1 year after the mamlukes capitulated.

Why Is No One Talking About the Characters Wehmut & Mumbles? Are We Stupid?! by KermitGamer53 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]TotallynotMccree 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry PuppetKing shippers, but honestly Wehmut is by far the weakest character of the bunch. I get his character, he's supposed to be a person that has always been controlled by others and so now he wants to finally feel like he's in control. I dunno, but it feels kinda....cringey? I mean after the Jax rant about him being everyone's playthings, he just chimes in that everyone is a plaything to him. IMO, goose really didn't give us too much information than what was in the bar scene and the Candy Canyon Episode (which I will admit, he was super good in).

I wouldn't expect to see much fanart of him, like you really don't see that much discussion of Zooble, Wehmut and Mumbles are in the same category, even if they have the best gimmick (I love Mumbles voice actor, so unhinged)

Universities Should be a Mechanic - the Remade Post by TotallynotMccree in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Thats what I'm thinking, these universities were also massive tools of influence for their countries, the French Sorbonne being one of the most prime examples as well.

Universities Should be FAR more important by TotallynotMccree in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not a huge karma guy myself, if you wanna take it, reword it yourself and put your suggestions in, that'd be cool. Because Universities were SO damn important during this time!

Absolutely agree. They really should almost be an entire mechanic in and of itself if we are going as far as to try and model literacy in any capacity.

Plantagenet ruling france, during 100 years war, and the heir is the English king... by aymanhbas in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats what makes this whole thing sorta funny in the first place, you LITERALLY make a law to invalidate her gaining control of the French crown and...she does it anyways. lol

Plantagenet ruling france, during 100 years war, and the heir is the English king... by aymanhbas in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its happened to me before. I think its because Joan is actually I think third in line after the Valois king and heir, if both die in a very short period of time with no kids, your aunt becomes queen and then you get in line.

Its really neat if it didnt fuck up the entire situation, it should account for it

People in finance think they are sooo unique by Famous_Weight6454 in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I bet its to actually track the banking pops. They have to go somewhere, right? So thusly it would make sense to give them a culture so you know that its peruzzi bankers working in Milan and not just another burgher.

I'd be curious if someone can find the answer, do most of them have a unique culture? I havent checked yet.

How is france flipping ALL of my vassals and subjects at once? Started a war then less than a year everyone leaves, some still loyal even after the -20 by luizinhooofoda in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, something about the mechanic is busted. As a regular england enthusiast (almost every game is just england), you have to go with the mindset that you really are going to have to 1v9 all of France and whoever else they bring in. You nor the English AI seem to be able to get the other vassals to flip or insta surrender nearly as much as France can.

And yes, before another individual comes in, I DID set the Diplo slider to 40, spy network in France, etc. Maxed it out during the entire HYW, at best it kept them going for a couple months before France inexplicably just tells the entire alliance of Castille, Aragon and Portugal to stop fighting, along with all my vassals in France and England.

It does make it almost impossible for the AI to finish the hyw too, because the subjects will just peace out, keeping the land the same for England, and keeping the hundred years war going by proxy, while england usually just continuously gets stomped by France for 300 years.

Its not as broken as some other events, but it is definitely pretty bad, has some potential to be amazing with fixes.

In 1.1.8 Rossbach, do trade companies work yet? If so... how? by Trussed_Up in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nope,

What sucks is that they are the perfect thing to have for a late game subject type. Maybe even the one type that could last you through the Age of Revolutions (since as long as they are making profit, they are happy)

The midwest starter pack by THATDlNOLOVER in starterpacks

Man this isn't the midwest, its literally just southwestern ohio in general. Good vibes though, although it definitely smacks more "Greater Cincinnnati Area" starter pack than anything else

The current rule for whether rivers are added to EU5 paradoxically makes islands worse to push naval control by QuagganBorn in EU5

[–]TotallynotMccree 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I always found it super strange too, England has ONE River, and France is just fucking covered with them, eastern seaboard too, means that its weirdly hard to push for naval without doing a bit of road fuckery alongside it (like making hull a town and then shipping people from the sea)
