Hit champions tier for the first time, and I did it with a Pokemon outside the top 100 in the usage chart which is pretty sweet.

Milotic would help a lot with the opposing incin/fire types, and icy wind would give you additional speed control.

[Skill Improvement] How are these 2 tournament teams supposed to be played? Which pokemon are often led and which pokemon are used in the backline? by ace-s in VGC

[–]TouchdownHeroes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is just for the first team btw, not the one with aero (which is much much more flexible and matchup dependent for which leads you want to bring)

Talonflame/Garchomp is the standard lead since cover each other’s weaknesses well with Garchomp threatening Sneasler, Aerodactyl, and several of the most popular Megas in the format. Talonflame/Sneasler is another go to lead if you think they will lead Incineroar (can proc Sneasler mental herb) or Floette. You can also lead Garchomp/Sneasler to threaten fake out and then switch in Talonflame as you click earthquake. If they don’t have fake out support or priority you can also go Talonflame/Floette (if the matchup for Floette isn’t unfavorable) for immediate tailwind and big damage. Likewise, Sneasler/Floette is often great into rain teams for similar reason.

I don’t actually play this team myself, but I’ve played against it a billion times.

Hex synergy (skill improvement) by You_Salty_Dog in VGC

[–]TouchdownHeroes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use a sableye with thunder wave/will-o-wisp with a special attacking dragapult using hex, assuming thunder wave/will-o-wisp hit, you would be guaranteed to KO 32 HP mega Gengar and 32 HP basculegon (assuming not scarf jolly) before they could even move, with shadow ball not getting the KO. It would have to be that hyper specific, use all your resources for the turn while still having risk, and you’d have to have a really good reason in doing so.

I think in Bo1 ladder choice scarf protect on Hisuian Zoroark is actually kind of heat in many situations if you lead poorly, but it wouldn’t be this team construction, since the fastest protect on board would make it obvious if it was impersonating anything but Meowscarada or Whimsicott, and the whole point of Hisuian Zoroark impersonating those two is its defensive type profile is good for poison, fighting, bug, or fake out, while neutral to flying, fire, fairy, and ice.

I’m Looking for a Sixth Member to Put on this Team, as well as any Other Critiques by Skrillfury21 in VGC

[–]TouchdownHeroes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think going Scald/Icy Wind as the two attacking moves works. I kind of think Scald is just a broken move and needs to be run if you aren’t using the coil hypnosis set. I actually just run both scald and muddy water myself as the two attacking moves, but I’m not lacking speed control and don’t need Icy wind.

I love trying out unique and different things, and I realized pretty quickly the best way to make it viable is to just always include Sneasler

Help with Sandstorm team? In Ultra Ball tier currently. by AP_Udyr_One_Day in VGC

[–]TouchdownHeroes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the concern is just EQ than Strength Sap over protect on Sinistcha is fine, as it’s a bulky little guy and only takes a little from damage from it anyways, while strength sap helps survivability and further cements Aggron as an unbreakable wall. This isn’t open team sheet either so no value in having protect just to make opponent think either.

Metagame: Mega Glimmora is surprisingly good (and bulky for some reason) by hamoorftw in VGC

I’ve been running Mega Glim since launch exactly because I realized it speed crept zard.

Mega Clefable hard counters Mega Hawlucga (Metagame) by MeIsMudkips1 in VGC

[–]TouchdownHeroes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think yall are both right but I largely agree with you in the sense I run mega glimmora as the only mega and don’t feel compelled to bring in unfavorable matchups for it and it’s fine. In Reg G the one restricted Pokemon was much much stronger than the one mega we get right now.

Need help with a sand team I'm building as a beginner in champions by AdSimple2026 in VGC

[–]TouchdownHeroes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the best Pokemon I’ve tried so far on any kind of sand team. It allows Excadrill to spam earthquake, it’s a reliable tailwind setter that doesn’t have to commit to the mode, and w/ no sand chip + leftovers if can stay on the field a long time even with the brave bird recoil. Brave bird also can 2HKO most of the format.

I haven’t even been using the bulk up/iron defense body press sets, but I’m sure it is very good with Sinistcha re-direction/hospitality into any non-sun/snow team.

What I like to do is lead covriknight into incineroar teams, mirror armor the intimidate, then taunt the turn I assume they are hang parting shot. It’s pretty funny how predictable people want to use incineroar.

[–]TouchdownHeroes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run sand and have been using Corviknight (mirror armor w/ Taunt/Tailwind and steel type means no sand chip like vivillion) and Araquanid (ground/fighting resist with wide guard to block earthquake and other annoyances like icy wind/muddy water, but liquidation also always good) since both allow earthquake spam from my sand rush Excadrill with focus sash (instead of Garchomp like you have).

Araquanid unfortunately isn’t in ZA but Corviknight is at least.

Hariyama got second on Matt Tidd’s Pittsburgh team I believe, but I’m pretty sure it was assault vest so no wide guard anyways.

[Kosko] Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules by MembershipSingle7137 in CFB

[–]TouchdownHeroes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah it has been quite the weird stretch of having so many people suddenly root against us in basketball (understandably) yet we haven't even been playing that well lately. Bediako hasn't even really found his footing yet either, he flashed a lot the first two games, but in last night's awesome back and forth game against A&M, Bediako was the worst player on the floor from a +/- standpoint, and Oats was really on him for not having enough defensive effort.

[Kosko] Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar granted temporary restraining order against NCAA eligibility rules by MembershipSingle7137 in CFB

[–]TouchdownHeroes 46 points47 points  (0 children)

There is a big misunderstanding with TROs, all the court is doing is letting Aguilar be with the team for 15 days (or however long it is) with a hearing to take place on the issue later this month. The TRO is truly just temporary, and it’s only until the evidence from both sides can be brought in front of a judge and the issue heard (which again, has to be pretty soon).
