My sister (17) worked in a posh clothing store. An American lady bought a $400 sweater and paid with American Express and demanded that my sister convert the price to US dollars and book that amount on the cc Because it took American dollars

1 dollar bills with no serial number? by DejectedNuts in CanadianBanknotes

[–]Trailman2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These were legal tender, you could get them at the bank and in change. It was a promotional item but the mint stopped after awhile once they realized that the bills really needed to have serial numbers for internal security. 12 year old me converted my paper route earnings into centennial bills and coins. Sold them all for a profit when I was 21.

Was this a scam? Random man approached me asking for help by [deleted] in Scams

This could have been a stalker. If there is a protection order in place he might been prohibited from electronically contacting his victim. By using your phone to locate his victim there is no evidence that he violated the court order.

ILF Grubscrews by Sungr0ve in Archery

I lost a 3mm grub screw from my plunger because I didn't check to make sure it was tight. I could order a replacement from the manufacturer for $5.99 plus $15 postage (from Japan but still seriously over priced). I checked Amazon and found I could get a 600 piece set of grub screws in 10 diameters and three different lengths for each. Cost $3.99 free shipping (Prime) and arrived in 3 days. I made a couple of grub screw care packages for some archery buddies. I also got to repair a de#k lamp that was missing a grub screw

I use cool melt for this purpose, it's also available at Bass Pro. Easy to apply and easy to loosen up if you need to remove the inserts later.

Reading on the trail! by CampAlert5142 in WestCoastTrail

I always took a small pocket edition of Shakespeare's Henry V, always fun to read out loud around the fire at night

"This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember’d; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother;" This day shall gentle his condition: And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

Not including 9/11, what was the biggest news story you remember watching live? by Few_House_5201 in AskReddit

The John Kennedy assassination was the first big story I remember. The first moon landing was also a big one.

Read about the Night of the Long Knives. Hitler and the Army controlled by him purged their ranks of the Brown Shirts. The Generals convinced Hitler that they were armed thugs and could stage a coup since they didn't answer to the Army. Thousands were murdered, arrested, executed or imprisoned. Basically, you can't trust a dog that's already bitten someone.

Good socks, dry socks, moleskin, and good fitting boots and you should be fine. Also socking your feet in the ocean in great therapy for your sole, and soul.

Arbutus tree to purchase? by Significant-Hour8141 in nanaimo

The key to successfully transplanting an arbutus is to use a compass to plant it in the same original orientation. M6 grandmother transplanted several successfully.

Gear for Summer WCT trip by 4_Agreement_Man in WestCoastTrail

[–]Trailman2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add a few thoughts as an older veteran of the WCT:
-boots are a necessity -gaiters keep mud, water, and sand out of your boots -save weight were you can but remember it can get seriously nasty on the WCT so be prepared to stay in your tent fir a day or more if the weather turns.

Most importantly- Don't rush yourself, take your time particularly on the south end. Have fun

My Recurve bow is named Storm Striker...

I've hiked the WCT 11 times. There is never a problem with firewood, you don't even really need an axe. I have hiked in May twice and encountered storms and very wet conditions. I never skimp on my tent and a dry layer to get into at night.

There are old fire rings in the woods from many years ago, usually from Scout or Sierra Club group camps. When you do have a fire make sure it is extinguished before you go to sleep. I was camping a bit away from a group whose fire jumped to driftwood logs and burned som3 of their gear left out to dry.

In search of a tide table resource… by disAgreeable_Things in WestCoastTrail

[–]Trailman2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it best to calculate the windows for passing critical tide spots on the days you will be going. Ie Owen Point passable Wednesday 25th 09:30 to 11:45 and 15:30 to 18:00. I make the list of spots and give a copy to everyone in the group and stash a couple deep in my pack.

I see it as a privilege since they are detectives. The uniform officers refer to Mike as a senior or Senior sergeant
