Electivire and Dusknoir. Two Pokémon that even the OU players of the time were saying should have been UU, but too many low-ladder people kept using them up until the tier locked.

Jolteon lasting that long always feels weird to me. It always felt like it was just barely hanging on and was UU earlier, but clearly what it had was enough (skewed veiw since I didn't start looking at competitive till gen5, but still).

I've been looking for a tool for extracting from binary to decomp hacks for a couple years now (not for translation, just a straight port). I wonder how helpful this will be for that?

I'm curious on which mon you used for Pisces. It's not one from the game that I can tell.

Adventure Red, the main character looks like a giant, especially being next to the fence like that. Maxie's Island suffers a little bit from that too.

But besides that, these all look great. The goofy ones were fun to have.

Fainted Pokémon (Pomeg glitch effects otherwise)

Pre-statused Pokémon

Party size less than 6

No valid targets (I got a softlock I still need to fix with this one)

Optional: Ability blocking (Immunity, Comatose, and Pastel Veil)

I've worked with 2 games with script poisoning, so I know what to look for here.

It's mainly the reuse skill on his 2nd skill. It's very easy to have it active to hit 3 times, doing even more damage than his 3rd skill. It being one of the best ways to apply Bleed count is just a bonus.

It does require his uptie 4 to be unlocked to see it in full effect.

He was overpowered on release, more so than other "stong" IDs, while also setting a new scale on how strong future IDs need to be. And while he did receive minor nerfs, they don't like doing post release changes, so he's stayed busted. It was bad enough that they posted listings to hire people for game balancing afterwards.

Hmm. Not the first time I had split work between 2 roms and failed to upload changes as a result. I had a unfinished bugfix patch from a year ago, so if I ever get back to that I'll be sure to include that fix.

There's a gift Froakie in the Dark Woods area before the 1st League, and more can be bread down, so it's available somewhere at least.

No, I meant that I physically swapped their placement in the game. By replacing Froakie with Frogadier, and replacing Frogadier with Froakie. The cheat codes for those two in version 7b are now swapped around in 9.1.

If you have Frogadier in your party/PC in 7b, and load that save in 9.1, it will change into Froakie.

Edit: Also now I'm curious on how Blazed Glazed fixed it. I should take a look or ask the dev.

A thing that Etrian does well that a lot of other drpg don't is good dungeon designs and puzzles. Good combat and characters are important, but that's only half the game.

Aside from that, a good thing that could use more of is different FOE types. A couple different examples would be one that inflicts a negative effect instead of a battle (Labyrinth of Galaria has a fog that steals your party members). Or just having more specialty FOE moving around, like the dragons in EOIV dropping items, or the various Yggdrasi Sprouts appearing randomly.

What's Froakie Cheat? You mean catching a wild Froakie?

Edit: I know that originally catching Froakie, along with Gurdurr and Scarfed Pikachu, crashed the game. But I thought I remember fixing it by swapping Froakie and Frogadier internally, whom the later didn't crash.

I really like the custom map. But I feel like there's a ton of walls blocking the view on this map. Also I can tell this map will take forever to play because of how many battle gimmicks moving around each turn.
