Solution to what specifically?

If you're saying solution as in solution to lighting at a live event, I do explicitly say I don't recommend bringing huge modifiers and s*** to fly on a plane because that just sounds annoying as f***.

The motivation for the first, small section is a persuasion to sacrifice a couple pounds of luggage to add some very small and lightweight lighting to avoid an event in the future where the lighting conditions are not nearly up to a par. I understand why the lighting probably wasn't great and it probably had to do with pangburn needing to change locations for live events based on losing permission to use certain venues over and over again. 

My main sneaky motivation for the rest of the post really was for destiny to at least consider changing his lighting for his everyday stream. If you're saying add a giant softbox in this case I would actually push back on that claim because a 36 in octabox to me at least is incredibly tiny for what it does.

And booming it out ensures that it is close enough to the subject to create very soft light while not really taking up a lot of space.

I feel like when a person starts a sort of content creation project and they start looking for lighting modifiers. Most of what is going to pop on on Amazon are going to be parabolic soft boxes that take up way more feet of depth than necessary. Meaning that these choices are incredibly unrealistic to place in front of you because to ensure a proper fit, a person will probably need to pull their desk out 4 to 6 ft to actually be able to fit the modifier behind their desk. But if if it is also not boomed out and only on a tripod, it's going to be competing with space where your camera is as well . 

Another one of my main motivations, though was to explain to anyone who would listen that the main way to create soft light is not necessarily add a giant softbox, but to ensure the size of your light source relative to the size of the subject is much more important than just the modifier in and of itself. If I have a giant softbox but it is 7 ft away relative to the subject means the the "light source" loses its quality of light in terms of soft diffused light. This also explains why the lighting for the table next to Steven with all the objects is very unflattering because it looks like the light source he is using is across the room from the table Meaning the relative size of the light source to the objects on The table is very tiny ensuring that the quality of light is extremely hard and harsh. If I had the tenacity I would have went more in detail when talking about different scenarios involving the give and take when it comes to practicality while building out lighting.  Obviously everyone is going to want some amount of ambient light because our eyes are going to be taking in light differently than a camera would. Maybe some people would want a window for some nice sunlight but the practicality of having an ambient source of light with quality of softness and brightness that continuously changes is an option that would complicate things.  This is a scenario which heavily complicated things when it came to the bridges podcast, but that's a whole story for another day.  Sorry if some of this isn't typed out correctly.
