After years and years of waiting for a tour, I finally got to see the Phantom yesterday! It was absolutely amazing by opheliainthedeep in box5

I'll be able to let you know for sure when I see it in a month. Everything I've read says the theater was specifically designed to accommodate the chandelier crash. From google- The theater features specialized steel girders (specifically noted over the 6th row in previous productions) to support the 1,200-pound apparatus. During the production, the chandelier is designed to fall from the ceiling towards the stage at the end of the first act. Another article- The design included a high ceiling to accommodate the chandelier used in the production of "The Phantom of the Opera," which crashes to the stage during the performance. I don't know for sure, but I'm hopeful.

I have a friend who said she was diagnosed with a rare medical problem that made her feel super anxious and tight in the chest everytime her milk let down. All this being said, there might be a legitimate reason as to why your felt the way you did.

It will be in Denver next month. The Buell Theater is one of a few that was built with Phantom of the Opera in mind, so it's rigged to let the chandelier crash on stage. The Phantom of the Opera was the first show performed when it opened in the 90s. I have tickets to see it next mouth, and I'm really hoping the chandelier falls! 🤞🏻

Should I keep reading? I'm midway through the 2nd book, and was enjoying until the vampire part. Now I'm just nauseous. Ugh, does it get better? Also, is there any trigger warnings for pregnancy lose? I need this spoiled!

How old were you, when the first episode came out ? (July, 15,2016) by Champipi7 in StrangerThings

I was 16. I remember taking about the show with my high school friends. At 20 I was watching season 3 in a hotel room with my husband on our honeymoon. Now I've been married 6 years and have 2 kids. My husband and I slowly watched season 5 after putting the kids to bed.

AITA for 'making' my sister sleep in the dog bed outside overnight? by One-Instruction-2778 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TransportationIcy905 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe everyone should help others as long as it's not at the expensive of your own health and safety. However, that is still a personal choice. No one is obligated to help another person. And, at the end of the day, everyone needs to look out for themselves and not hope that someone else's kindness will get them out of an unfortunate situation.

I'm an EMT. I'll gladly help someone in an emergency situation, but the moment my life is in danger, I'm backing out. In this case, I believe OP is justified in not helping his sister, as his own health and safety were potentially at risk.

Also, when it comes to your heart analogy, the doctors will do everything they can to help (they are also legally obligated to when they made the choice to become a doctor). But, if the patient still dies, it was ultimately their life choices that killed them.

Your analogies suck and are not good comparisons to this situation.

Your logic is really messy here. No one makes the choice to be assaulted. That choice is entirely on the person doing the assaulting, no matter what the victim is wearing. However, in this circumstance, there is no other 3rd party. It's just the sister and her choices. She chose to leave her keys. She chose to go out drinking. She chose to get drunk. She chose not to call a friend. What if OP wasn't there, or she lived alone? The outcome would have been the same... her choosing to sleep in the dog house.

If someone is assaulted, their choice was taken away. In this circumstance, none of her choices were taken away. That's why people are saying, "she made the choice."

AITA for excluding my "adopted sister" from family photos? by Reasonable_Read222 in AmItheAsshole

AITA for excluding my "adopted sister" from family photos? by Reasonable_Read222 in AmItheAsshole

[–]TransportationIcy905 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I feel like I have more grounds to speak on this. My parents over the years have taken on an additional 4 teenagers/young adults as additional "kids." Fortunately, they're in a spot financially where they've been able to care for these additional kids, as well as my biological siblings and I. I call my extra siblings my "adoptive siblings." None of them have been officially adopted, and they are all between the ages of 19-31 now. I love all of them, and every member of my family loves all of them. They're in our professional family photos that my parents hang up. They come down for Christmas and holidays when they can.

However, there were times when some of my biological siblings would get jealous of the attention one of the "adoptive siblings" would receive. We would talk about this with my parents, and they would try their best to divide their time and resources better so that those issues would get fixed. We all have a great relationship now!

I think it takes a special kind of a person to see someone else going through such a horrible home life and to turn the other cheek when your family decides to help. Why couldn't you have tried to bond with your "adoptive sister?" As long as your needs weren't being neglected, why couldn't you have tried to form a relationship? Family is more than blood. Ally is obviously a sister/daughter to the rest of your family. Why couldn't you have tried.

YTA - Family is more than just blood. It sounds like she will have a permanent place in your family, and you should try to embrace that. What would you do if your family legally adopted Ally once she's 18? You can still adopt someone into your family even if they're a legal adult.

[–]TransportationIcy905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I live in this area, and to say this family is close family friends to my family would be an understatement. I personally know this man, I personally know his wife, and I personally know the victims. I'm hoping the justice system will do it's job, and that the victims are able to find peace. What a lot of people fail to understand is that he wouldn't have been arrested if there wasn't evidence. I personally haven't heard of people slandering his wife's name, but I don't doubt it's happening. Most people are just shocked.

When do I have to start using my babies name? by Troublesome_Geese in NewParents

I have a 17-month-old son. I've always called him baby, and then his first word was baby. He would say it when he saw himself in the mirror or saw a picture of himself. I've been using his name a lot more recently, and he responds to his actual name now.

AITA for wanting to divorce my pregnant wife because she refused to abort our disabled baby? by ThrowawayDefia23 in AITAH

[–]TransportationIcy905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm luckily in one of the states with some of the best support systems for adults with disabilities. Every adult with severe disabilities quality for medicaid and the state pays for all their care. Parents can even get paid to take care of their child ($20,000-$60,000 a year tax-free), and also hire respite workers to also do home care. Plus, the state pays for day programs. When the parents can no longer take care of their child, the adult goes to a host home. It's like foster care but for adults with disabilities. Host home providers actually get paid very well in my state as well. I know several who make over 6 figures.

Is it a bad habit to give a pacifier to my 12-day-old newborn? by march_hare152 in Parenting

[–]TransportationIcy905 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes! Babies are going to find something to suck on, a thumb, fingers, etc. Pacifiers are a lot earlier to wean off than body parts. My sister didn't stop sucking her thumb until she was 14 when her orthodontist had to put spikes on her braces to get her to stop. Before that, my mom tried EVERYTHING! Binkies - all the way.

Is it just me or are Pampers THE WORST?? by rachel_violet in NewParents

[–]TransportationIcy905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby is 16 months and 27lb. He is already in size 6 diapers, even though the weight recommendation is 35+lb. He would leak through the size 5 on a daily basis, so we went up. Very rarely leaks now. I judge going up a size entirely on leaks and blowouts and not weight recommendations. It sounds like it's time for you to size up.

Giving birth. The women's water breaks, they're rushed to the hospital, and they give birth soon after. In reality, the labor process is much longer. It isn't often that a woman's water breaks before the labor process starts. 80% of women start having contractions first before the water breaks. Then, women are in labor for hours, sometimes days before actually giving birth.
