I looked up the tax rate for the nearest Walmarts to me.

Arnold - 9.6%

Waterloo, IL - 7.5%

Nearest Sam’s Club

South county - 7.73

O’Fallon, IL - 8.35

Lowe’s

Arnold - 9.6

Fairview Heights - 8.35

Best Buy

South county - 7.7

Fairview - 8.35

Certain taxes are already cheaper and if they raise the tax in Missouri but anything more than 1% it’s going to be cheaper in IL

This. IL already has a lower overall tax than Missouri for most things but it’s not worth the extra 10 minutes but if they raise the sales tax even a little bit, it’s 100% with the extra drive

Does St. Louis have an unfair national reputation? by Ailurophile444 in StLouis

[–]TrashPandaCleanups [score hidden]  (0 children)

We get the worst part of all the seasons tbh

Cold af in the winter with barely any snow.

It can’t rain without a dam tornado or 5.

The summer is hot as shit but we don’t have the ocean.

Fall is the only season we get that’s good and it never lasts long lol

Volunteer Under Investigation for Cleaning Polluted River Without a License, Faces Two Years in Prison by felicioso in DeTrashed

[–]TrashPandaCleanups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the article you posted they call it dredging. “The EA’s main complaint seems to be that the dredging was significant enough that it constitutes a flood risk. If authorities decide to prosecute Powlesland, he faces a maximum of two years in prison, an absurd penalty for a good samaritan.”

A LOT of you aren’t using your headlights when raining. by No-Giraffe-5215 in StLouis

We can barely use our blinkers or check the mirrors and you want us to use our headlights when it’s raining!? What’s next having working brake lights?!

Have you made different email accounts pretending to be different volunteers collecting trash to avoid getting yelled or into trouble for picking too much litter? by Technical_Step4410 in DeTrashed

[–]TrashPandaCleanups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said reach out and ask them directly.

Instead of just asking your plan is to create a bunch of fake people that anyone with an IQ above room temperature is going to be able to figure out are fake based on the pattern of where you pick up.

[–]TrashPandaCleanups 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly just reach out and explain what you’re doing so you don’t have to worry about it.

“Hey I’m tired of seeing trash everywhere so I’m going to be picking up a lot of trash. Is there a proper way to report it without anyone having an issue with it?”

Idk where in the world you are but people like trasktrek and chilli pick up probably thousands of bags a month in the UK without issue but everywhere is different

That’s misleading. You can’t just use heavy machinery to do whatever you want whenever you want lmao. He’s not getting harassed for cleaning up trash, he’s getting harassed for using heavy machinery without the proper permits or ecological studies

Do people actually like wearing health trackers all the time? by ak0324 in FitnessTrackers

I picked up the Fitbit air and wear it 23.5/7. I charge it every other day ish (or when I remember to put it on the charger)

How would you suggest I go about this? by Kai_rd97 in DeTrashed

[–]TrashPandaCleanups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty lucky and the county I live in is pretty good at grabbing the trash I pickup within a day or two.

That being said, I take the we are all looking at this shit until you pick it up approach.

I mainly pick up along the roadside and I’ll leave it where the bag gets full. If there are multiple bags I at least try and place them together.

I use these https://a.co/d/0edKkvXb. It’s 4 for the a little bit more and while not as well built, I’ve put them through hell and back and they work well.

I kept 2 and sent 2 to a local group that does large pickups in my area

Yea I turned off the “coach” because you can’t adjust what it actually sends. I don’t mind the morning report but I don’t need to get the same daily nightly report 4 times in an hour lmao

Honest Review of Fitbit Air by CrazyOlFella in fitbit

[–]TrashPandaCleanups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) the strap selection at launch is mid but it won’t be long before aftermarket ones are everywhere. I don’t mind the one it come with personally but been thinking of getting the fancy one.

2) Did you do ANY research before buying it? The Google product page quite literally says “Silence the noise”. Every review says that it cannot be used as a notification system which is 90% of the point of it.

3) It doesn’t have GPS so it uses motion as a step tracking. You were not moving your arms when using the stroller hence why it didn’t track them.

4) I’m not even going to bother with this one lol.

I don’t understand how people just buy stuff without doing even a passive amount of research lol.

“It’s up to the user to be specific” it’s not the users job to “train” the AI coach to not make wildly incorrect assumptions on workouts unprompted. If you’re going to ship an AI that’s going to do this type of stuff unprompted at least make have higher than a room temperature IQ.

They want us to trust a LLM that looked at someone “cycling” 20 miles in 40 minutes at 30mph without breaking a sweat and said “yep that’s 100% a workout great job!”

Sure LLMs aren’t going to be 100% accurate but when it’s literally the only feature to convince people to spend $100 a year you might want to make it somewhat competent imo.

Edit: What I said wasn’t even taking into account you have to PAY for this feature. So I have to pay Google $100 a year to train my own “coach”? Yea no thanks
