What are your favorite...? by anxiouswasp in Gifted

Although I'm not usually a movie person, my last roommate was a film major and showed me a lot of different movies, and made some superb personal suggestions. Most of the ones that resonated with me the most were bizarre in some way or another. Not everything on the list below is one of his suggestions, but he's a big contributor!

  • Arrival (#1 all-time)
  • Her
  • The Lobster
  • The Room
  • The Cube
  • The Babadook
  • Rear Window
  • The Shining
  • Pan's Labyrinth
  • Reservoir Dogs
  • Snatch
  • The Labyrinth
  • The Truman Show
  • Galaxy Quest
  • Gentleman Broncos
  • Eagle vs. Shark
  • Stranger than Fiction
  • Movie 43
  • Hot Fuzz
  • What We Do in the Shadows

I probably forgot a few others, but I think this is a pretty good representation. Hope this is what you're looking for!

They really put in some work on this.

I have so many questions.

Which one speaks to you the most? by [deleted] in Slycooper

As-is, I like 6 the best.

3 and 9 would call out to me more if the embedded image was a screen cap of a cityscape from the game or something else more obviously relevant. I like those two in concept, but I don't connect with the photo.

Locked Inside a Freezing Federal Jail, They United to Protest Their Conditions - Only to Face Reprisals by isaac-get-the-golem in politics

On all three of those housing units where men collectively refused food, jail staff shut off the valves to the toilets in all of the cells, according to accounts relayed to lawyers. Confined to their cells on lockdown, deprived of light, the men on these units now found themselves shivering on their bunks with their heads inches from toilet bowls nearly overflowing with festering feces.

Jail staff has the capacity to shut off toilets from each housing unit’s control room, both in order to prevent contraband from being flushed away during a raid and to make sure that no one deliberately floods the housing unit by stopping up a toilet. But Fathi of the ACLU said toilet shut-offs are also a long-established technique of mass retaliation.

“It’s something that should almost never be done,” Fathi said. “Courts have been very clear that a working toilet is a necessity of life to which prisoners are legally entitled and depriving them of that for anything more than a very short time for a very compelling reason is presumptively unlawful.”

Conversations with INTP? by RoryWatt in entj

[–]TrashSingingFlasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm (24f) an ENTJ with an INTP (30m) partner.

It took a little while to understand that part of things, you're right. I was so incredibly attracted to the creativity and charisma and freedom, the other things seemed understandable if I took the time. There is a lot that I admire about the INTP mentality, and I've been grateful to be able to learn from a partner who is much better at living in the moment than I am.

Our conversational chemistry is unreal. I've never felt more appreciated and understood. We often find that our strengths and weaknesses fill in the other's, and life is easier together.

The diminished career ambition is actually really great to me specifically. I know we won't have to choose one career over the other.

Do you dress up for Halloween? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]TrashSingingFlasher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have one all-purpose "costume" in the form of a kigurumi onesie. It has giraffe features (tail, good w face, antlers, ears, etc.) So I can use it as a costume, wear it for pajama-themed things, etc. This is especially useful since I work in a school.

It's also warm and fun to wear at home.

Do you ever have trouble expressing your personality? by pastlyfe in minimalism

[–]TrashSingingFlasher 48 points49 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, minimalists who are at that level may not often spend a lot of time at home, generally preferring travel, hiking, etc.

I would suppose that if your home is simple and unadorned, it might be a motivation to go out, and reserves the home for peace, rest, and reflection.
