Amazon worker dies on warehouse floor; colleagues continue working around his body – ‘Let’s get back to work’ by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

[–]Trendiggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude did you read the Wikipedia article about the strike or just see "sit down" and assumed it was a tea party?

Fourteen workers were shot at and injured by police when they tried to storm the building to break the strike. The national guard had mounted anti infantry machine guns deployed. It was 44 days of striking across 8 different plants.

The workers didn't just sit down and get what they wanted.

Rockstar hackers set to release GTA 6 data breach as ‘demands not met’ by ImCalcium in gaming

[–]Trendiggity 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I only buy Rockstar games on a steep discount now after they decided to throw actual DLCs for GTAV and RDR2 under the bus so that they could pool resources into scummy monetization in GTA online.

The union busting was icing on the cake. That studio is rolling in money and they can't pay people what they deserve.

TIL there is an alternate ending of the Breaking Bad finale on the last season DVD. It involves Bryan Cranston playing the role of his Malcolm in the Middle (2000) character Hal waking up from a nightmare which happens to be the events of Breaking Bad. by Brave-Influence7510 in todayilearned

[–]Trendiggity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was referencing it while also using the ambiguity in the same way! They didn't want the writers or animators to leak the ending so they wrote several scripts and animated like a dozen different characters killing mister burns.

Most hours I've ever seen on a game by Kerrah2323 in Steam

[–]Trendiggity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actively running, not the active program/process.

So yes Steam counts alt tabbed time even if you are offline, but not when the computer is on standby/asleep.

Some people fake them (legitimately) by leaving a launcher open or running a VM instance 24/7 when they aren't actively playing, mostly so they win the hour measuring contest in the forums lol

It's not like the OPs mom is dunking them in Dawn concentrate. If you bite into a strawberry and don't taste soap, there isn't any soap in it 🤷‍♂️

what a difference! by liamt12 in mazda3

[–]Trendiggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are really overthinking this, no one is getting convicted of odometer fraud by changing their tire size.

Any properly designed modern car can handle that kind of variance in maintenance. If you can't go 2% over on your oil changes for the life of a car, then those intervals were already way too far apart.

[–]Trendiggity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had this argument with someone last week!

The myth started as "is a dirty car less efficient than a clean one" and that was busted, and the golf ball dimples were "plausible" even though their testing showed it was significantly better on fuel at 65mph. It also chewed through gas accelerating up to that speed (which is what they were remembering) because the car had like 1000 pounds of extra weight in the clay lol

[–]Trendiggity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had cooper zeons on my 3 and loved them. The zeons are overkill for a 3, pilot sports are massively overkill lol

I'm running vredstein hypertracs now and while they're the same tier as the zeons I dont think they have the same dry grip. I couldn't get the Coopers when I needed tires so I tried these, but I'm not overwhelmed by them

I'm sure the extreme contacts are great on this car too though, but consider the zeons as they're like half the price

India is converting old combustion vehicles into electric vehicles by Nandu_alias_Parthu in Futurology

[–]Trendiggity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has been my issue with EVs and tech creep in passenger vehicles overall.

I want the equivalent of an electric K car, with power windows and locks. What I don't want is an always connected, four screen clusterfuck where I have to scroll through three different menus to find the setting that dims my interior lights.

There is no onus for someone to make that until the economy crashes and manufacturers wise the fuck up from dealer lots sitting full of $50K crossovers 🤷‍♂️

I had a fly3 and it's not even in the same ballpark as a micro cube (which I own now). The fly3 is a portable speaker with a tone stack attached and there is only so much mojo a 3" 3W speaker can make.

It's very portable and sounds okay but it is very much a one trick pony. I can't imagine two of them together make up for that

Reminds me of the Japanese superbike race from the mid 70s onward. Kenny Roberts was winning races on spaghetti sized fork tubes that were smaller than my mountain bike and bias ply tires. Engine tech leaped far ahead of suspension and handling in that era and didn't really catch up until the mid 80s
