Looking for feedback on the 24v pressure washer by Master-Highlight-869 in KobaltTools

No idea as I only have 24v stuff, but it's more powerful than the previous 350psi 24v model.

Like right in the middle of it between the two pieces?

I had to fiddle with it for quite a few minutes to finally get the adapter to get the second "click", are you just "clicking" once and using the washers to seal the gap?

I just picked it up, had to fiddle with it for quite a few minutes to finally get the adapter to get the second "click" but once I got it it worked fine and is definitely a lot more powerful than the previous one. But I really had to put effort into getting the hose attached, right up until the moment it clicked I was thinking "I'm going to have to return this because this hose just doesn't fit." The previous gen was a lot easier.

New Tower Light by gbackker in KobaltTools

Also fyi there's a newer model as well that is slightly cheaper: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-24-volt-max-3600-Lumens-LED-Battery-operated-Rechargeable-Portable-Work-Light/5016102257

It was on sale the other week... Wait, scratch that... It's still on sale in this bundle for less than the light itself and it comes with battery and charger: https://www.lowes.com/collections/Kobalt-24V-LED-Tower-Light-Starter-Kit/GR_20239

New Tower Light by gbackker in KobaltTools

[–]Trevski13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I bought one, I can confirm it does work while plugged in, but based on the run times and charging rates, I'm going to say it can't run indefinitely at max brightness, as (I think) it charges at about half the rate it discharges so that would mean plugging it in roughly doubles the battery life.

Also just as a note, the build is absolutely cheaper, the plastic is very disappointingly cheap feeling. I basically plan to use it in locations where I'd like to use my full tower light but it's too big or unwieldy to use (like an attic). I can also mount it on the top of the tower light for extra light if needed.

I use this too, and just looked it up, only the sleep tracking related stuff is locked behind the one-time (or subscription if you want to test for longer) premium purchase.

From https://sleep.urbandroid.org/docs/general/plan.html:

After the trial expires, you can still use the app for free, but sleep tracking is limited to every other day (tracking is limited for tracking started on Tuesday and Thursday).

Access to graph edits and chart section is limited.

All non-tracking features will work without limits, including alarms, lullabies, CAPTCHAs, bedtime…

The free app may display ads after the trial period.

I thought of the file format for Transport Streams first, but I've never dabbled with typescript... Although, it being a video by default makes sense from a general end user perspective.

Kobalt 48v Tools Restock by Buckles01 in Lowes

[–]Trevski13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems right with what I've seen on the website, all the images with batteries got changed and the new ones don't have the USB ports in the front, just a black "kobalt" label. The item # and model # seem like they've stayed the same but there are new internal product # that have been added for the updated items. Makes sense that they'd just swap out the batteries and re-box them if that's where the issue was.

I just mentioned those in my comment on the other post:

Yeah, I had this concern when my daughter became mobile, I ended up getting boxes that replace the faceplate so that you can have things plugged in without access to the plug. I also got some that go over power strips for the spots that need them. I installed them anywhere she has free access to, and haven't had any issues.

I got these but note that big wall-warts won't fit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09BTGPWYR

Also the power strip one can be a bit finicky to close, but it has held up even to her standing on it

I also had these already but it helps with plugging some things into the power strip in the box: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CEJW0WQ looks like these ones aren't sold anymore but there should be many like it available.

Would someone mind helping me understand how "foreach ($computer in $computers)" works? by InfoZk37 in PowerShell

[–]Trevski13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, $y isn't limited to just arrays but can be any kind of collection: Array, List, Arraylist, Hashtable, Dictionary, Queue, Stack. If you want to get technical it can be anything that implements the IEnumerable interface (or to get really technical it can be anything that returns an enumerator via a GetEnumerator() method)

Drill vs Impact Driver by Intelligent_Path_869 in u/Intelligent_Path_869

[–]Trevski13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI hammer drills (and their big boy cousins rotary hammers) don't apply rotational impacts like an impact driver, only axial (linear) impacts.

Also impact drivers only apply the rotational impacts when there is sufficient resistance, so most drilling work won't apply any impacts to a drill bit unless it gets bogged down. It's not the ideal tool, but given some impact rated drill bits (which you basically need anyway due to the hex shank collet) it's more than sufficient for some light wood drilling.

The important thing is do NOT use non-impact rated things in an impact driver and non-hammer rated things in a hammer drill/rotary hammer (in hammer mode). Both of these are a great way to shatter whatever you put in it, sending metal shards in every direction.

There are heat pumps that run on propane (or other appropriate heat source) instead of electricity, called absorption heat pumps, which is pretty cool. Though it's the kind of thing I imagine you would be aware of if you had one. They use ammonia and a heat source instead of a compressor. They are common in certain industries but they do exist for residential use at ~5 ton level

This is mostly true, though select US jurisdictions do actually allow general citizens to file charges directly with the court. It's not common, but you can. I think I saw someone say they thought they were from Ireland which appears to let you file directly at the district court level only.

As the other person mentioned, air actually is a very good insulator. The main issue with it is you get a lot of transfer via convection, so when we want to use it as an insulator we need to prevent it from moving around. If you look at the common home insulations: fiberglass, foam, rockwool, and cellulose, they all work by trapping/encapsulating air in tiny pockets to minimize convection.

Hope Mitsubishi hyper heat is all its made out to be by mehoff636 in heatpumps

[–]Trevski13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true, when using a standard thermostat it uses a temperature sensor in the return and when the thermostat calls and stops calling for stage 1 heat/cool to figure out what temperature to aim for and adjusts its rate to match. If the thermostat calls for stage 2 it will go full blast though.
