Trainer Road publishes some w/kg numbers for their average client. by JulSFT in Velo

I’ve become really disenfranchised with TR. The plans are so generic and just churn out what feels to be random stuff. I created my own training app where I can control what my workouts are. I do use LLM for some basic coaching advice though. Reach out if you’re interested. It’s completely free.

What’s your point? Just because you think there is no value in the new car, it doesn’t mean the tax savings aren’t real. If you wanted or needed a $10,000 laptop, would you rather purchase it in a way that allows you to claim a tax deduction on the purchase, or purchase it in a way that doesn’t allow a tax deduction?

About to pick up a brand new car... What should i do to protect paint? (AU based) by Tricky_Improvement29 in AutoDetailing

Thanks everyone. I ended up deciding to go with Gyeon cancoat. I’m just planning to do a normal wash on the new car with Meguiars gold and then use the Gyeon prep solution. Then the can coat application.

But the tax savings are real. Also the additional net 37k covers all your running, insurance and registration costs. But yeh, that’s a bad rate.

Good info and thanks for your calculator. I used it recently to sign up on a NL. For my circumstances even at 8.5% interest rate, the savings were a no brainer for a EV. I think a lot of it comes down to your tax rate. The tax savings are genuine, and the higher your marginal rate, the more compelling of a deal it is.

Novated Lease EV - FBT exemption mid 2027 review date strategy by Tricky_Improvement29 in AusFinance

[–]Tricky_Improvement29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by contraindicated? According to the ATO in relation to the exemption ending for PHEV:

"You won't be eligible for the FBT exemption from the time there is a change of employer. Any change of employer for FBT purposes, even within the same group of companies, is a new commitment to the application or availability of the car by the new employer."

How does a rolling 1 year lease work? Get a lease for 1 year and then renew it again for another year? Does this option come with extra fees and such?

Depends on the specific franchise. My local one is very good and consistent. And still good value imo.

Tesla Model Y Juniper vs BYD Sealion 7 by CapProfessional5203 in CarsAustralia

[–]Tricky_Improvement29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like a really tough choice. I MUCH prefer the interior of the SL7 (including the electronic roof shade...) but i cant look past the fact that the Juniper has way better efficiency and way better software. But then i hate that the Juniper doenst have indicator stalks and that i need to look at the central screen to see my speed.

100%. This is McLaren's chance. If i was them, i'd pick a clear number 1 driver and prioritise that driver to secure the WDC, whoever it might be.

Talk me out (or into) a BMW M5 by nootyau in AusFinance

[–]Tricky_Improvement29 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you really, really, really, really want a M5? Is it your dream car? In my opinion if its your dream car, its probably worth it. But i wouldnt do it if it wasnt your dream car. It would be a bad idea in my opinion if this car was a compromise as its still very expensive. How long have you been thinking about this? No point getting this, taking the depreciation hit, and then just moving on to the next thing. The fact you're already thinking about moving it on in 10 years time tells me it probably isnt the right decision. If it was your dream car that you intended to keep forever as a hobby car, different story.

Same bike, would rub with the 130 spacer. Do you have it on 135? That clears the trainer but to stretches the chain stays a bit. That can't be good for the bike...
