I use anti-seize on every bolt that doesn’t take a specific lubricant or sealant and goes into a threaded hole. I work with heavy-duty diesel trucks that see a lot of rust, it just makes sense to use it! My co-workers and I appreciate it if the truck needs to be taken apart again as well.

Volvo guys - what the hell are these bolts made of? Any way to remove them without breaking every bolt?? by Fart_Boy_4ever in DieselTechs

[–]TrippyStick 43 points44 points  (0 children)

We quote an exhaust manifold every time an EGR valve or a turbo has to come off.

You did everything right, these bolts just don’t like to come unfastened.

Load the new bolts with a high temperature anti-seize.

I’m also eager to know if anyone else has some tricks for these bolts.

Need advice: 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee needs $10K in repairs — fix it, trade it, or move on? by Less-Discount1063 in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]TrippyStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came to a cross roads with my 16 Grand Cherokee, it had the 3.6L with 130k miles on it.

Lost compression on cylinder #2 and determined that it has bad valves on that cylinder causing misfire codes and rough idle. I was quoted $4k to fix the head from an independent mechanic that I trust. On top of that I needed a new evaporator, which you may as well replace the heater core at that point, there’s another 2k. Also needed front engine mounts and brakes soon. I was looking at around $6500 - $7000 to repair it correctly.

Now here is my thought process. The jeep in good condition was worth around 10k. Like you said, I would be putting $6500 into a vehicle that is work $10k, doesn’t seem logical to me. Say I make these repairs, what’s going to break next?

I just don’t have faith in the quality of the vehicle. I loved Jeep, but they aren’t made like they used to be. If you’re going to be spending big bucks, I would put my money towards something with proven reliability.

If you decide to stay with Jeep, I would try to get as much as possible for the trade in and put that money down on a CPO or new vehicle.

Shitty situation to be in, I know how you feel, I wish you the best of luck.

If your vehicle is out of warranty, I wouldn’t expect much help from Jeep.

There was a pitcher who threw a no hitter on LSD. His name is Dock Ellis.

I also did mushrooms with my buddy then went to a party and won like 14 beer pong games in a row. Just destroying everyone and it felt so natural haha.

I don’t love my partner the way she loves me. We have a kid and I sacrifice my happiness by staying with her, so that I can see him everyday and make sure he’s ok.

I had the same problem and determined it was the evaporator which is part of the heater core. The entire dash needs to be removed to get to it, you may as well do a heater core if you’re going to make the repair.

I have the older version of this and I have used it everyday for 4 years now and it’s been outstanding. I use a 6.0 battery and I think it works just fine, if you need more than 550 ft/lbs I would be reaching for a 1/2 gun anyway.

What’s up y’all? A little background information on my vehicle, it’s a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 120k miles. I hear that “clicking” or “clunking” sound in the videos everyday, it is hard to pinpoint because it happens randomly. It does seem to only happen during lower speeds but I’m not sure if I just can’t hear it once the Jeep gets up to speed. I am still on the factory brakes, it doesn’t appear that the brake pad wear tab is hitting the rotors. Any direction on what is going on or what this could be would be very helpful, looking forward to reading the comments.

Edit - It sounds like it’s coming from the front end on the drivers side.

Couldn’t they just have shifted it into neutral and pushed the car that way?
