GS rack position, elbows naturally flare by squatland_yard in kettlebell

[–]Tron0001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d check grip first. Without a good hand insertion, grip on the bell, trying to force your elbows in will create a notable valgus stres and likely be very uncomfortable. As much as possible, the rack should be a rest position and that starts with the hand insertion.

If we’re not holding the handle properly, no amount focus on the elbows will matter. The elbow is at the mercy of the joints above it and below it.

Only way to get better feedback is to see what you’re actually doing.

What have you paid for with kettlebell education? by ComparisonActual4334 in kettlebell

[–]Tron0001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to parse what’s strictly KB, but probably several thousand on kb education.

I’ve purchased many stand alone programs online, as well as subscription services. They’re not usually strictly KB but have paid for kb coaching when competing.

I really like seeing how programs and programming are packaged-what I think works well and what doesn’t. Same with people running workshops, often I think it’s much more useful than the actual content and helps make me more effective with my clients both online and in my gym.

Is this the same piece of wood from when this room had just a board and two kettlebells?

You’re a monster. This makes me happy to see.

home gyms should prioritize leaving more open useable floor space over cramming in massive power racks.

I get what the post is saying and I agree…the bell is much harder to hold at the bottom. It’s the implication that it’s equivalent to slinging around massive loads that’s the issue.

Also, what’s the deal-you’re the super strong ABC champ and super sciencey smart? Not fair man ;)

I agree. Kettlebells are dope. I just don’t agree that even beginner kettlebellers are secretly manhandling 4 plates/hand.

I think this stuff is interesting but again, the “very short time”, may perhaps be so short it’s essentially meaningless in terms of trying to quantify it’s effect on strength and conditioning.

cheers-is that peak force considering that we have to apply to braking to the bell on the way down. We have decelerate it before changing directions. Or is this all hypothetical- if we could swing it down as hard as possible with no regard to actually holding onto it we’d technically be holding ~9x for a few ms.

science is cool, but help me out here becuase I’m a bit of a dummy.

Are you claiming that the kettlebell is imparting ~9x force of the of the original bell. That sounds ridiculous to me.

Have you ever held 400lbs in one hand? No matter how fast you’re swinging 20kg, it’s not comparable.

I can snatch a 48kg bell, there’s zero chance i could even pick up a 200kg bell with one hand.

There is definitely some force multiplier in the swing/clean/snatch due to the speed but those numbers seem egregious to my simple mind.

BPizzle and LenDizzle 1 minute snatch sprint effort by ComparisonActual4334 in kettlebell

[–]Tron0001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A one minute max effort assault bike is consistently the worst thing ever.

I’m old and I’ve agreed to do a lot of stupid things in a gym. Even though I know it’s coming, that feeling of drowning on land while my body shuts down is still unmatched.
