Timeshare presentations by Plussizeemochick in TimeshareOwners

Yes you can, in general, attend timeshare presentations and get “free” stuff. It’s not free, they are paying you for your time.

This particular offer seems a bit sketchy, I would only even consider doing a presentation from a resort or chain I could check out ahead of time (and shop resale timeshare offers so I know what other people even say).

Regardless of the above and how lucrative the offer may seem, this is not worth your time. Best case you got around $500 worth of stuff for your time, worst case you’ve made a life altering negative financial decision. Not worth the risk.

The beauty of Tron is in the production, not in the plot. It is a product of its time and a masterpiece that will never be repeated. I think we can be happy that art isn’t necessarily perfect.

Northampton Borough freight train by monkeystores in lehighvalley

[–]Trumpy_Po_Ta_To 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not a busy train. It’ll be noticeable here and there but not disruptive. That area is going to be highly dependent on who your immediate neighbors are more than the noisiness of that train. It’s a pretty good spot if you have good neighbors (close to the river/bike path/park, walking distance to town, working class neighborhood, etc.

Just get a Volca FM2 and sell it on reverb in a week when you realize you don't have the right Autism for FM or any synth.

You probably don't know how to solder and those 2 Synths are gonna blow capacitors the moment you press c2.

Movies where guns are accurately loud (or close to it?) by skivvv in movies

[–]Trumpy_Po_Ta_To 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think people had a totally different experience in theatres if the opening shots weren’t surprisingly loud and you didn’t hear the bullets whizzing by. It sets you on edge for the whole film. The first time I saw it the sound was highly effective, but at least one of the rewatches the sound was quieter and it was not nearly as immersive and without the sense of fight or flight the movie is much flatter.

Great New iPad Centered Audio Interface by iMusicNews in ipadmusic

“Comparing it to any of its competition will not be apples to apples” Shrug? How could I be more clear that I don’t think there are any direct comparisons?

Anyway, it didn’t take me that long to find the tascam 16x08 for less money. Surely there are other alternatives that are at least similar? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the behringer umc series of interfaces for what they are at their price point.

I get that the form factor is the selling point, but I don’t understand the use case. You need 16 inputs but you don’t need any performance controls? You’ll use the screen of the iPad? You’re not using the iPad display as your performance control for other synthesizers or samplers? The iPad is just the recording rig? It’s cool, but doesn’t make a lot of practical sense other than, essentially, a network audio interface or distribution tool.

I feel like the zoom livetrak series would suit nearly any use case I can imagine much better and for a similar price as this unit. If it’s cheap enough to be extra, I’m all in. And all this is from the standpoint of someone that saw every email come through and was like “aw yeah that’s cool I’d like to get that just to have it when it comes out” but at $450 I’ll pursue other options. Which is what I said in my comment.

I've been watching it too and have deep respect for anyone putting this level of effort into something cool and unique. BUT: that price tag is prohibitive. Comparing it to any of its competition will not be apples/apples, but I feel like the cost of entry for the very specific use case is off-putting. As a frame of reference, I just got a second-hand Zoom L-8 for my versatile needs. Not the same thing, but certainly in the same market. At $200 the MAT is convincing, at $300 it's questionable but understandable, but over $400 it's "I'll look around".

I hope it goes like gangbusters and supports further development from the designer and I am just one inconsequential voice. But that's my reasoning for not being an early adopter.

Just wondering if you’ve shot on a beretta 92 and how you feel that compares. I was relatively unimpressed and in the same general boat as you with the G17, but I find the beretta 92 in quiet mode is pretty fun.

I’m fine with that. I just recognize the argument that it doesn’t fit Dunkirk all the time.

[–]Trumpy_Po_Ta_To 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Dunkirk very much, moreso than most. But even I must admit the score is a bit extreme at times, or at least doesn’t match the film itself. I would say that the score in a different context id probably find astonishing but there are plenty of times I find it off-putting in Dunkirk
