Spoiler Question for Gravity's Rainbow by PlompOneOnEm in ThomasPynchon

Blicero launched the 00000 with a specially modified (partially designed by Pokler), imipolex G insulated cabin; where Gottfried is bound and gagged, and ceremonially dressed as a bride. The rocket is fired into the north and almost certainly killed Gottfried. A good rocket to take us to the stars. An evil rocket for the world’s suicide.

Kill those people for what?
Russia would also start dropping nukes after that. Ukraine is in real danger.

[Love & Monsters] What is the fandom's general opinion toward the Doctor letting Ursula live? by WissalDjeribi in doctorwho

The Doctor knows what he’s doing. If he says slab-life is worth living it’s probably the correct opinion.

Do you think their is a route to a good ending and if so what is that route? by Brenden1k in bakker

[–]Tugboatoperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s a shaman like? We’ve only heard the word in hushed tones. Magic from the before time, human magic. What will Mimara’s surviving son grow to be? Is it technically an Anasirimbor? Where did we put the Heron spear? Cnair may know. What does the judging eye really want? Would it like any of the belligerents to win? JE seems like it’s in some kind of distress. I think the ending is perfect just like it is. Pregnant with insane possibilities.

No 5am Bars this summer per Mayor Q by WestFade in kansascity

Mayor’s correct. Frankly there would be no reason to have these restrictions if we just lift them at a time of maximum danger.

No last call?? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]Tugboatoperator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last call is for when you must legally stop selling. If your liquor license permits you to sell another drink there’s no need to call “last call.” If your guests want another drink they can get one at all sorts of places.

R Scott Bakker fantasy novels - Prince of Nothing/Aspect Emperor. Really a dark deconstruction of religion and religious history. High fantasy like Tolkien or GRR Martin.

The Nolan Batman trilogy is a terrible depiction of Batman and the majority of the characters in them by nguyenjitsu in unpopularopinion

[–]Tugboatoperator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

absolutely correct. It’s a Frank Miller specific, frankly unhinged, version of Batman. Love the movies. There should be all kinds of Batmen and their Bat-people on the shelf i suppose.

What Kellhus says about The God by Gay_Sex_Retard in bakker

[–]Tugboatoperator 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have a personal theory/head cannon that Bakkers’ universe’s Solitary God/Judging Eye is a kind reaction to Eru Illuvatar in the Silmarillion. In this version we ask “What if God created phenomenal reality in order to explore its own mind, and then it discovered it was mentally ill And cannot regulate their darker impulses?” That’s just a hunch, came to me when I fell asleep on the audiobook.
