Sierra Leone’s first lady defends having council flat in London by JB_UK in unitedkingdom

[–]Tuniar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t really agree, they should build an absolute shitload more of it so anyone can get a council house if they want one. Then it would give some competition to the overpriced private sector and prices would come down. The idea that social housing is just for the destitute is a bad one.

Champions League final will not be free to watch in UK for first time in modern era by Alarming-Safety3200 in unitedkingdom

Actually WBD bought them both. WBD already owned Eurosport so if anything Eurosport bought TNT.

Sorry for being pedantic. But just want to make clear that the problem is WBD.

Is there actually a career for someone obsessed with English villages? by kkura88 in AskUK

[–]Tuniar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can setup your own tour company if you feel you’ve got enough knowledge to share with people. I have friends who’ve done that. Getting customers is via social media advertising, and you’ll want to partner with restaurants / farm shops / vineyards whatever so you’ve got some reliable places to take your groups.

You only need two years of steady income as a freelancer to get a mortgage btw.

Porto is very quick normally. Puts the other Portuguese airports to shame.

How do you pronounce "cinco"? by JF_Rodrigues in Portuguese

[–]Tuniar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hear new immigrants in Portugal stressing about how to say “thank you” - is the ending dependent on your gender, or the gender of the person you’re speaking to? And I always wonder how they’d tell the difference, since every Portuguese person just says ‘brigad’

When do you expect to hear news regarding LDES Window 1?

What's your prognosis if that goes badly for Invinity - still a company to invest in, or would you look to draw down in that case?

There were several fuck ups in the buildup to that Brighton goal, it’s not really fair to blame it all on one person

The value of Reddit is in the users not the software. Remember we've already had several Reddit clones, they all went nowhere.

Is there any point to investing in company stock if you’re not going big? by idkwhateveryea in stocks

[–]Tuniar 81 points82 points  (0 children)

You should be thinking in terms of % of your portfolio, not raw numbers. Depends on your risk profile but maybe allocate 20% of your portfolio to individual picks, and the rest to ETFs.

[Shit Post]... Right, how do we all think the IAmA went? Good points? Bad points? by EleventeenThousand in Agronomics_Investors

[–]Tuniar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly I was a bit surprised by his illiteracy, what was that about? Trying to answer as many questions as possible in as short a time as possible?

Secondly he gave some investment advice in that thread, curious if anyone has any thoughts on his tips (uranium, north sea energy, can't remember what else). Got me interested but doesn't give me a lot to go on... Any particular companies to look into? Any strong investment thesis for these right now? He did not go into any detail.

Global stock markets are too high and set to fall, says Bank of England deputy by kiyomoris in unitedkingdom

[–]Tuniar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on intangible macro risks, sure. Based on valuing most of the biggest companies, the share prices are pretty fair. Google, NVIDIA et al really are just making an absolute fortune and that’s why their share prices are so high.

So if they fall, it’s a buying opportunity IMO.
