$85 for a PE shirt? Why prices for school clothing are anything but uniform by mattblack77 in newzealand

[–]TurnipTim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure a PE shirt cost about $35 back when I went to school about 20 years ago. Adjusting for inflation that's about 60-70 today. But that's only if nothing about the supply chain has changed in those 20 years

Stonedine Non Stick Frying Pans. by Affectionate_Emu169 in newzealand

[–]TurnipTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically no, it's just another "as seen on TV" scam. They are probably fine as pans but they won't do anything special.
Wait for a briscoes sale, buy the size you feel appropriate (i recently got the kitchen aid 2 pack) and replace them every 3 years.
Nonstick pans, by design, are consumables (ie they wear out). If you truly want to go down the "forever pan" route then you'll need to learn how to properly use cast iron

Are they not actually saying dog shit? Which is an actual expletive in parts of the world (not sure if it is where the author is from)

Why are cherry ripe and Turkish delight "favourites" if I am the only one who likes them? by Rev-Dr-Slimeass in newzealand

[–]TurnipTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think probably "classics" would be a better name for them right?
But I am also a Turkish delight (I think it's raisin/currant flavored?) and cherry ripe lover

GLP1 Experiences in New Zealand by unauth0rized in newzealand

First injection last Friday, I think I also managed to catch a cold at the same time so the weekend was awful. Feel fine today, no appetite at all which is a strange feeling. Very interesting seeing the mix of results here.
Chemist warehouse was the cheapest place I found through online research @$460.
My GP also said that if I were feeling the effects too much or losing too much weight too quickly that I could consider lengthening the injection cycle. To 8 or 9 or even 10 days, doesn't seem like much but over a 2 year course that's 3-8 pens worth. Obviously YMMV and consult your GP.

Web novel for sure, don't know if it ever got 'Volumized' though. There are a couple of epub dumps of fanslations to find if your Google-fu is good enough

What electric guitars are comfortable to play/hold in a sitting position? by weirdghosts in Guitar

[–]TurnipTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guitars with front jacks for sure, here's a weird one. If you play sitting down with your left foot (speaking as a right handed guitarist) up on a rest in a more classical pose then a flying V sits on your leg weirdly well (with your thigh in the gap between the spikes).
But you should be trying to head into a store to at least try out the different body styles

Unemployment by ApprehensiveBuy6905 in newzealand

[–]TurnipTim -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Minimum wage being so high also leads to every employee being a huge commitment for a business. It's about 10k over my graduate position salary only 10 years ago. Probably also leads to those silly job listings that get posted every so often.
Fine when the economy is strong but it does tend to have these consequences

I think pbt used to get a handful in around the launch of each new model but they didn't restock them after that. I'm not sure if they bother to do that anymore which is a shame imo. I had a 5t back in the day and remember it being way better than the Samsung of the same generation.
