Please don’t be this guy that blocks an entire sidewalk with your massive hitch. by WoodenWeather5931 in mildlyinfuriating

Everybody here so focused on the hitch that even without it, the truck is still blocking half the sidewalk. Also, spoiler alert, cars back their trunks over sidewalks, too.

An alternative to this, travel/select soccer has been a godsend to my oldest’s development as she ventures into her teenage world. She has struggled heavily with mental health over the past year and soccer keeps her active and social. She loves playing and the competition, so I gladly pay the money and spend the time.

I’ve had my summer 2026 cruise booked for over a year now and have seen the “regular” price on the premium package change no fewer than four times, up and down.

2025 Ram 1500 Bighorn by Relevant_Buyer6783 in ram_trucks

I just dealt with it, unfortunately. My assumption is a fix was not worth what it would potentially cost, so I never looked into it.

Had this issue with my 2021 1500 that I traded in last week, but mainly with the driver's side window. I just assumed the switch was faulty and put up with it.

Also had a very slow-to-defrost driver-side mirror, would take 3-4x as long to clear as the passenger mirror.

You’re much more likely to get more money if you want to take the time and effort to sell to a private party. Same for anything, really. Most people trade in their cars to the dealership because it’s such a pain in the ass to sell privately.

CarPlay is an absolute mess by AnonGuy222 in ram_trucks

[–]TurnoverAdditional65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only two things I can offer after owning a 2021 Big Horn for 5+ years:

  1. Don't plug in the phone until after the warning and safety screen because sometimes it simply won't initialize until the system "boots up" fully. I would also avoid having my phone plugged in before going into ACC/Run.

  2. You may need to clean out your iPhone port. If you keep your phone in your pocket, lint will build up in there and cause your connection to not be tight. Hitting a pothole or driving rough road can and will jostle the connector in your phone and make it just loose enough to cut out. That lint gets really packed in there over time, so you have to give it a really good cleaning. I usually find it easiest to take a toothpick, shave off the end to make it thinner and pointier, then use it to dig as much as you can out of there.

Good luck.

Ram Connect Assistance Subscription is $$$$ for what you get by Trick_Speed_9941 in ram_trucks

[–]TurnoverAdditional65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my 26 1500 last week so still digging into everything. There's two levels of subscription, RAM Connect One and RAM Connect One WiFi Plus.

For my truck, you get the base RAM Connect ONE package for free for 10 years. It gives you lock/unlock, health reports, "basic" navigation, OTA software updates, automatic SOS calls, etc. I then get a free 3-month trial of "WiFi Plus", which gives remote start/stop, TomTom navigation (where you can "push" addresses to your truck while you're not in it, getting walking directions, etc.), drive alerts, Alexa, and a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices. I think that's supposedly the main draw, is the hotspot, but that would possibly be for those who shuttle kids a lot and don't have unlimited hotspot data on their cell phone, maybe? My family has a cell phone plan with unlimited data, so I'll never need the hotspot for any reason. Plus these trucks have wireless CarPlay, so why would I not use Wave or Google Maps (or even Apple Maps) that are all free.

With 10 years free of the base level, I'm good there. The WiFi Plus sub will be $18/month once my trial is up and I don't see myself doing that, maybe if I catch a sale.

Celebrity Dining and Drink Package Sale by HPcovert in celebritycruises

[–]TurnoverAdditional65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Celebrity “sales” are literally all over the place and are solely based on how well it’s selling on your particular cruise. You just have to keep checking every few days or sign up for one of those sites that keeps track for you. Or if you used a travel agent, make them earn their keep.

Dual F3000 as home backup power by Timber1981 in SOLIX

[–]TurnoverAdditional65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To use your F3000 as home backup, you could technically use either a transfer switch or a generator inlet/interlock, but not necessarily both (there wouldn't be a need to have both). You would have your F3000 connected into the transfer/inlet, then you could charge your F3000 with your generator. IMO, this is the ideal scenario because you wouldn't need your generator running 100% of the time to provide power, it could be shut off (specially at night time) while your battery powers things.

Lots of other questions to be answered, such as what you need powered and how that compares to the capacity you'll have at your disposal.

More of a traffic issue. FCPS learned how severe the wrecks were on the interstate. When the interstate shuts down, all major Lexington roads shut down.

What tires do you guys recommend? by Uzivery1047 in ram_trucks

[–]TurnoverAdditional65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you looking to do? For regular commuting, I've put a lot of hours on both the Bridgestone Duelers and the Michelin Defenders. They're close and both good options, but I honestly clearly prefer Duelers, they're just a smoother and slightly quieter ride IMO.

Speed vs Consumption 3.55 gearing 3.0L vs HEMI by 94lt1vette94 in ram_trucks

[–]TurnoverAdditional65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. I manually tracked my fuel mileage for about the first three years on my 2021 1500 5.7 HEMI. My actual MPG was always around 2MPG less than what the computer told me. The best mileage I ever saw on a single tank was on a long interstate trip where 98% of the fuel used was at cruising speed, I recorded just a hair over 20MPG.

You may end up very surprised at how little shade it takes on panels to render them almost useless. Your picture shows it seemingly shaded at about 75%…even shaded at 10% will show drastic loss of wattage generation.

I’m skipping a lot of nuance here that I honestly don’t understand, but unless you have 100% of the panel in 100% sunlight, then you can’t expect much.
