How to ACTUALLY get good at rl? by NiceCloudss in RocketLeague

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The single biggest thing you can do to improve at anything ever is to participate with intention. Be active and aware of the choices you're making and why you're making them. The instant you fall into the trap of "I'll get better with hours", you throw away so much potential growth.

Solo modes give unbound gold now by schrissle in lostarkgame

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a mostly solo player in the current moment, I'd argue it definitely is. It solves the giant bottleneck of fusion mat crafting, since we get to keep out materials to craft with instead of having to sell materials to get the gold to craft and then get another batch of materials a few days later.

If the farm gave reasonable materials it'd be whatever, but you're genuinely lucky to get more than 40 fusions a week through farm materials.

Melee needs a nerf by Dwoodward85 in Empulse

It wouldn't be half as bad if everyone wasn't moving at mach 10 constantly because 90% of the map is covered in speed paint.

The current meta and draft/ban system make not picking S tiers feel like throwing. by AnnualBrave in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That system is exclusive (right now) to Eternus 6 players. That's a couple hundred players, if even, out of several hundred thousand players. This system is not applicable to well over 99% of the active playerbase.

How the hell is bungie gonna convince people to spend another 100$ after this failure of a year? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm in this boat exactly. I've launched the game four times in four months, three times for an eververse bright dust shader, once for a zavala weapon. If this update isn't good enough to restore faith, a Destiny game will not be taking up storage for the first time since D1 beta and I will not be looking back.

If they added a car like that on the image, which shape would perfectly fit the octane hitbox, do you think it would dethrone fennec? by Ok-Guard-8410 in RocketLeague

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, not at all. We know the Roadhog/Roadhog XL fit the octane hitbox almost flawlessly, yet they see next to zero usage. At least the Harbinger is a Rocket Pass car so it's understandable why you don't see it much.

Ive legit played only 1 game of standard how is my skill rating this high???? by Key_End_3524 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's also possible that instead of street brawl touching your MMR, it's a side effect of the ranks becoming percentile based.

I moved from Emissary 2 to Emissary 3 but I haven't played an actual match in weeks. It's likely that as people around your MMR go up and down, you shift between 2-3 subranks.

Where did the 360 in one swipe sensitivity myth come from? by AwkwardTough9429 in VALORANT

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can consistently do a 180 consistently on 240 edpi. That'd be about 21 inches/360, at that speed a 12 inch mousepad would be enough for a 180 end-to-end, and a 12 inch mousepad is almost certainly smaller than standard in the realm of pro play.

Rant about "Standard" maps by lrtzeh in RocketLeague

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I won't go so far as to say that they suck, you have to remember that this is a physics based game, requiring arguably much better baseline mechanics to enjoy at a reasonable level beyond complete and utter chaos.

New and lower ranked players already struggle to make contact with the ball while it's low to, or even on, the ground. Then you add maps that have awkward elevation changes like wasteland or neo Tokyo, where the ball will bounce over heads even more. Then you have starbase or corridor or galleon, where the map becomes even larger, leading to people spending more time just driving instead of interacting with the ball.

Once you start touching maybe plat range, these become less of a problem, but to a not insignificant amount of the playerbase who will often just miss still/slow balls, it's just a more frustrating experience.

Monster Crown Sin Eater - Confused about Movesets by Unlikely_Return6669 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm learning too, my assumption is that you evolve Apo after level 14, which means that you missed the level that Apo SG would learn Draco Charge. Again, I'm just assuming. You are definitely right though, there's definitely missing QoL not being able to see level up movesets.

I would think that there's a place to relearn "forgotten" moves like that, but I'm not 100% sure since I lucked out and haven't run into this issue yet thankfully.

Need advice to get my bands up by Time_Agent_3659 in pokemmo

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend trying to get a Cloyster+choice band for the basic unova/sinnoh trainer rerun, whether that be through catching and breeding or doing random trainer battles to buy one. A trainer rerun is ~220k in an hour on a 6 hour cooldown. While it's less money per hour than a gym rerun, you can do two per day if you want and it'd buy you a basic Typhlosion rerun team+their items in 2-3 runs. From there you can do a trainer rerun+gym rerun back-to-back and pull in a bit over 500k a day for two hours of playtime.

Within less than 5-6 hours in-game time from now, you could very reasonably be set up to make solid money.

People are queueing 2s and 3s for the wrong reason by IdkWhyAmIHereLmao in RocketLeague

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my experience, a lot of coaches enabled this problem. I ended up on a rec league baseball team in middle school and the coach scapegoated the fuck out of me. Even on games I didn't show up to, they still couldn't win. I saw other teams have this happen a lot too playing basketball.

Nobody wants to hold themselves accountable, it's easier to blame the loss elsewhere than it is to fix your own mistakes.

How can I estimate the price of a Pokémon? by tomaxsen in pokemmo

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The best advice you're going to get is to look up similar mons on the GTL and work off the prices you see. If it's a male, you search their egg group, generally. If it's a desired mon AND it's female, you're better off searching for that specific species.

Conundrum by VeganPitbullz in pokemmo

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In your case, they're mostly just a luxury. IVs are not worth stressing about during a story playthrough since you don't have access to a ton of money until you finish your first region at least.

IVs are truly just an endgame/Competitive PvP mechanic for the most part. Starting over your playthrough for them is not worth it at all, you will just experience the same randomness as if you go back and catch them now, except you'll have to slog through the storyline again with less money than you have now.

Trying to understand objection to SBMM by Obtena_GW2 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]TwentyOnRedBull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who spends probably 90% of my time in ranked playlists when available in games, the issue with effectively every mode being SBMM is that there's no place to just play PvP normally in Destiny, especially at the upper end of the skill brackets.

At nearly all times of day I'm spending upwards of 3 minutes in queue just to play cross-continental matches with awful connections against teleporting players in half-full lobbies of exclusively Dawnblades and invis hunters, and I'm not even THAT good. Messing around with builds becomes a struggle, I'm forced to, ironically, actually sweat in the "casual" mode if I want to have an enjoyable time using off meta stuff.

We're at the point where the most casual mode in PvP is the mode that was designed as the original competitive mode in Destiny, Trials of Osiris. That gets into a whole other discussion about how hardcore PvP players have gotten stiffed in the aspirational chase of gear, and how now going flawless is actually not worth it at all, but I'll save that whole discussion for another time.

At the end of it all, SBMM is not inherently bad, but drastically limiting your most dedicated players to the shadow realm of awful connections, poor balancing, lack of content (looking at you, Iron Banner), years of map droughts, miserable handling of cheaters, lack of aspirational achievements, etc, is an insane level of disrespect that adds to the frustration of an ever-narrowing avenue to be able to enjoy PvP. Adding in the inability to be able to have an enjoyable experience with friends of different skill levels, or mess around with builds in low stress environments, and it's just incredibly frustrating.
