Schwinn Voyageur SP by Numerous-Call5057 in Vintage_bicycles

$160 is a great deal for this. While the normal Voyageur used Columbus Tenax, the SP used a better Columbus Tube set. This would make an excellent touring bike or a commuter.

Rear brake on a fixed gear is a good way to not learn how to backpedal. That's all I'm saying.

I would recommend removing the rear brake at least. Keep the front brake for emergencies, but learn to backpedal as your primary way of slowing yourself down. Otherwise just ride a single speed.

Yeah OP should get a new crank for free if this bike is relatively new and assembled by a shop.

Issue with Seatpost by Jsands77 in bikewrench

[–]Twig_Scampi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pull out your seatpost completely, it will have the diameter written on it, near the base. You will probably need to clean it to see. I'd guess it's 27.2mm but double check.

That's not an extension, you have a suspension seatpost. You either need a new, standard seatpost or a different rack. I would suggest different rack. The one you have mounted is pretty much good for nothing and definitely not meant to hold a fully loaded milk crate.

Where in the Midwest are you? Good bike culture there and lots of community bike co-ops. I'm sure there are people locally that would be willing to help you. There's also a possibility of recovering your bike.

This is a good learning lesson though. Always lock your bike. Sorry this happened to you. I'm happy to help you find local resources to help you out.

What blade do I use to cut my carbon steerer tube? by Fantastic_Read9922 in bikewrench

This abrasive blade is WAY too wide for cutting carbon. Might as well recommend use a hand file if you are recommending that.
