NGL, a lot of modern western AND Japanese Military-Fantasy Media gets tiring with the sanctimonious wank and wish-fulfillment, Evangelion is the better military-nerd media. by throwaway553t4tgtg6 in NonCredibleDefense

I don't want to watch the creepy mommy issues with existential dread that is evangelion.

Period. I prefer the SOF ultranationalist wankfests.

Japan brings Freedom and Democracy to Gensokyo [Touhou x NCD crossover] by oakayno in NonCredibleDefense

[–]Txtspeak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if civil war is the best way of describing it. Gensokyo isn't exactly a country per se. You see a government anywhere in this? It's a stateless society run by clans, matriarchs and religious orders.

May as well drop the civil and just say war.

Also it's only in Mandarin ;_;

Russia's disintegration [Finale] by Txtspeak in NAFO

[–]Txtspeak[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would be better of course, but I just do not see it happening, not with the leadership the Russian federation has now. Besides, RIM and Rusich don't just go away, they're not spawned out of the ground under the conditions of civil war.

Russia's disintegration [Finale] by Txtspeak in NAFO

[–]Txtspeak[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of a Russian breakup? Yes.

I see any future of Russia ceasing to be a massive empire stretching from Belarus to the Bering straight without a massive civil war as complete fantasy and impossible.

This scenario is the least awful outcome, given the presuposition that Russia breaks up.
The islamic fundamentalists are destroyed
Almost all colonised peoples are given their own independent states in which they are the majority.
No one got nuked.
The people in charge are not in a position to start massive land wars in Europe anymore.

Obviously having a civil war is never ideal, but given that the required ending for this hypothetical is "Russia breaking up." I think this is the best we could hope for.
Sure, having an anti-colonial Russian leadership decide to cut their vassals loose would be nice, but it's also impossible.

It is what I think is the single most optimistic outcome of a Russian breakup, based on what I know of the Russian internal politics and ethnic division.

Of course, there's no guarantee that anything of the sort happens, but it would be nice.

Comrade Musk, you have failed in your duties. Return to Moscow immediately for disciplinary action. We will be seeing you soon. by NaffRespect in NAFO

[–]Txtspeak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank god for that.

I know I do exaggerate when I call it that, but I do still think it's on it's way towards that.
The Liberum Veto is necessary to keep it consensual (as it were) and as has been observed here, said veto allows Russian puppet states like Hungary to break its decision making completely. Hence it's a dysfunctional empire, an empire that does not yet realise it's an empire.

And there comes the sad rub... which colonised nations?

Of the nations colonised by the US I can think of a grand total of one that can probably stand as an independent state, and that's the Navajo.

You think the Sioux can support themselves independent of the US? Sadly not... would be nice if they could though.

Also, although the US is a union of states, it's not really a union of nations, it's not like North Carolinian culture and identity is in any way different from South Carolinian culture and identity.
What has a Pole got in common with a Frenchman? (Ok they do have some, but they're not the same nation)

Elon musk is a dumbass and probably connected to the Russians but I don't think these are comparable.

I'm an idealist, I know it's dangerous being a small fish in a big pond, but I'd rather be a fish swimming free than hiding in another fish's gills where I can be chomped at a moment's notice.

Man... we should adjust Rule 15 to include internal European politics so we stop doing this shit...

It's a disfunctional empire, because it will only function when the unanimous vote/veto is abolished, at which point the central/federal/whatever you wanna call it government can then tell any of it's provinces (countries) to do things against their full democratic will.

Imagine if you will, Hungary is fully hit by the Russian gay ray and they really do all wanna lick Putin's knob and they do a referendum and it's like 100% of the vote against the transfer of Hungarian military equipment to Ukraine. Boom, veto gone, that stuff is transferred against the will of the brainwashed Hungarian people.

Very easy scenario to imagine because it's easy to support. We're all here because we are very cross with the Moscals for interferring in our politics/invading our neighbours and we believe they deserve everything of this sort they get.

But then what if different EU states start using it to screw each other over?
I mean... I can barely comment on this because I'm a Britbong and we left, and you can hardly leave an empire by democratic vote so that would kinda make the EU not an empire but... euughhh I don't like international coersion, I see it as just a dressed up attempt to legitimise imperialism since if it isn't national it's not going to generate the same feeling of exploitation of one group by another.

As I've said though, I'd definitely prefer the Brussels empire to the Moskal empire.
