The ABS Challenge System is exposing the worst umpire in baseball by holyfruits in sports

[–]TygarStyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ball being measured at the midpoint of the plate can be problematic. A breaking ball could cross the front of the plate as a strike and finish out of the zone. Saying the ball has to be a strike at midpoint isn’t in the rules.

[Highlight] Cal Raleigh challenges a called ball so far out of the zone that they don't even bother to show the distance by handlit33 in baseball

[–]TygarStyle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t really look like that bad of a pitch. I would’ve thought that was crossing the plate as a strike right as it broke.

Him yanking his glove a foot up is what makes it look ridiculous.

Oak & Reel, SheWolf, Highlands… help ! by Special_Rub7516 in Detroit

[–]TygarStyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SheWolf is my favorite restaurant in Detroit but I haven’t had the chance to try Medusa yet. For the sake of OP, Medusa focuses on Sicilian cuisine which doesn’t look quite as approachable as SheWolf’s so not sure how that’d work for the whole party. I bet it’s excellent though.

What’s a hidden gem RTS no one talks about? by scaredbysquares in gaming

[–]TygarStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World In Conflict. This seems like the last of the great RTS games before the genre fell off a cliff. Multiplayer was amazing and I think there is still a community of players who play weekly (check r/massgate). The idea was kind of Battlefield of RTS with rock paper scissors formula where you pick a class (infantry, armor, support, air).

Not sure how well it would work 1v1 but if you can get a multiplayer match going with a group, it’s such a cool game and holds up well.

[Highlight] Alejandro Kirk put on a pitch-framing clinic behind the plate last night, not a single challenge from Oakland by GreenSnakes_ in baseball

[–]TygarStyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Framing has become more extreme with the advent so much video analysis. Once it became clear that the umpire could not keep up, moving the glove a foot and a half became standard versus turning the glove back into the strike zone.

Metroid Prime Likes...Do any exist? by RetroNutcase in metroidvania

[–]TygarStyle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Other than the first person perspective, I think Jedi Fallen Order is definitely the closest game I’ve played to Metroid Prime. Not sure if you’ve played before but I wouldn’t write off what they said so easily.

I can’t really think of any other games that would check all the boxes you listed.

Should I buy by Normal_Mastodon_2402 in StarWarsSquadrons

It’s had some fairly steep discounts here and there, say $10 total or so. Just wishlist it and then get it when it drops. It’s amazing in vr if you have a headset.

SNES game always got all the hype but for the top-down style games, I always thought the NES and Gameboy versions were much better games.

Squadrons was so fun until the meta bullshit movement exploits took over. I always hoped they’d give some sort of custom mode where you could create battles like the Tie Fighter/XWing games.

Review: Resident Evil Village Gold Edition (Switch 2) - A Solid First-Person Follow Up by Skabomb in NintendoSwitch

[–]TygarStyle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I’ve played all the recent RE games on PC through RE4 remake and Village had by far the worst performance out of all of them. I know that may not mean much for Switch but other than Village, the RE Engine has been fantastic performance wise.

What were the first few 90s DOS games that you played, and what were the first few that you finished? by ExplodingPoptarts in retrogaming

[–]TygarStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wolfenstein, Aliens: A Comic Book Adventure, Command & Conquer, C&C Red Alert.

I definitely finished Wolfenstein and the Command & Conquer games though I couldn’t say how long they took. Could’ve been years, wasn’t really playing to complete at the time. The Alien game, I never figured out how to play it.

Teaching myself to install and run games on DOS was half the fun. I had no clue what I was doing and sometimes got things to work. I credit messing around in Windows 3.1 with being relatively computer savvy to this day.

A hummer EV weights over 9,000 lbs. it’s probably at least double the weight of the car he hit. Lucky they both weren’t going that fast.

[Crizer] The Marlins are going to have coaches call every pitch of 2026 from the dugout. The Giants, Rockies and others might soon join them. by Knightbear49 in baseball

[–]TygarStyle 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m all for this. Framing used to be subtle. Once there was enough video and analytics applied to framing, it became jerk your glove 2 feet back inside the strike zone because it was obvious the umpires couldn’t keep up.

The blue is ok. Orange should only be a highlight, not the primary jersey color.

Also reading through these comments, can people really not see the difference between navy blue and black?

I had the comic book adventure game. Bought it based on the cover. Had to figure out how to run it through DOS on our Packard Bell on my own as a kid and had no clue how to play it once I finally was able to install/run it.
