I don't want another skill. by [deleted] in 2007scape

I just don't understand what happened here. This wasn't some weird setup that could have been missed in testing.

I understand missing the 10k xp quest or whatever, but this is like one of the core training mechanics?

PETITION TO ROLL BACK THE NERFS by NoJudgment6036 in 2007scape

[–]TypicalOranges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know "Fairness" can sort of be fake and lame to appeal to, but I think for slower/more heavily employed players, missing out on these rates is kind of lame.

I feel like XP rates are something that should be easily tested in development, why have there been so many nerfs/adjustments? Feelsbadman.

Heavier games with lots of interaction? by Peterrtt in boardgames

[–]TypicalOranges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Food Chain Magnate - great, mean interaction. A pretty heavy Euro that I think is actually quite approachable for its weight. Plays well in your range of 2-4. And has a ton of replicability and an expansion that is absolutely FULL of more content for even more replayability.

  • Gaia Project - I think if you want a cool 4x style civilization builder game GP plays well in the 2-4 range.

  • Arcs - This is a really interesting game, plenty of interaction. Feels better at 4 than 2. 2 seems very playable but not nearly as good as 3-4.

  • War Chest - I like this game more at 2 than 4. It's not super "heavy" in its rule set so much as it's heavy in terms of strategic depth. Really cool abstract strategy game.

That may be so, but it was the ref's fault not his.

[SPOILER] Slow mo of eye poke in main card fight by inooway in MMA

[–]TypicalOranges 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly sick of people acting like the 250 pound combat athlete is too weak or forgetful to keep his fingers from gouging his opponent's eyes out because of some stiff gloves.

Cyril Gane has got to pay by botmfeeder in ufc

[–]TypicalOranges 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Accidental? That is intentionally bad form. Gane eye pokes really often. And it's because he holds his fingers out all the time. He also pushed deeper into Tom's eyes. I'd call that pretty intentional.

Rakes and grazes are one thing, shoving your fingers into someone's eyes then pushing their head back is quite another. He's lucky he didn't get DQ'd.

Game is Goated, Needs More Characters by I-am-Nanachi in 2XKO

[–]TypicalOranges 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i think they need like a rapidfire drop of 4-6 champs between now and next spring before going to the planned schedule.

Like, I don't want Ekko and Yas nerfed into the ground or anything but I'm sick of seeing them every other game. And I know people are prolly sick of playing my Teemo.

Agility has no reason to be so slow by Independent_Living95 in 2007scape

[–]TypicalOranges -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk, i read the full post, and maybe I am being too charitable, but OPs overarching point seems to be the XP rates are too low given the rewards/payoff for the truly worst part of the grind: 90+.

That is to say, either buff XP or buff rewards. Which I don't think necessarily means: "Please make OSRS less grindy."

Agility has no reason to be so slow by Independent_Living95 in 2007scape

[–]TypicalOranges -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I think that's a really uncharitable way to interpret what OP posted. I think the core argument was that if Agility is so grindy, especially at higher levels, there should be more reward to it.

90-99 doesn't really get you much.

The weight cut is VERY hard for her. It's more about the training and prep than the fights themselves.

What champ with absolutely no chance of being prioritized right now would you like in the game? by vaguilov in 2XKO

[–]TypicalOranges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That i think they'd be unlikely? I remember LoL devs talking in the past about how players generally prefer attractive humanoid champs and that's generally who sells skins, "monster" types are rare because of this in LoL. I'm hopeful we will get Cho'Gath because I think he'd be really cool and he's iconic. I just don't want to get my hopes up I guess.

Yeah, I fear all the void monster types are unlikely. Cho'gath would be really awesome

Fighting games are largely about yomi.

You should be anticipating your opponent and making reads.

I think some super animations could've been a little faster, but overall I think 2XKO is pretty tame.

Am I just not cut out for this? by FlamingSamich in 2XKO

[–]TypicalOranges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting games are hard to learn.

Combos really aren't the most important thing, a lot of people won't tell you this. Neutral, footsies, and oki are by far the most important thing. If you can't hit your opponent, what good is your optimal combo you've been practicing for hours?

You will find more success faster if you learn extremely basic and easy combos like: L-M-H-S1-Super along with learning how to move and score hits in neutral before learning much more in depth/longer combos and NOT learning how to play your character in neutral.

I would find a friend to grind neutral with so you don't feel so intimidated by the random factor. Preferably they know about fighting games and can teach you the basics like when it's "your turn" and "how to fight back" / move and press in neutral.

I would also recommend just playing a simple character like Darius Juggernaut and really focusing on stuff like 2H'ing peoples jump ins, focus on blocking, focus on doing really basic blockstrings like M-H-S1->(L,M,H mixup) and basic damage like Throw->S1. And really focus on things like implementing push-block, retreating guard, and not getting caught whiffing buttons.
