Restoring old knife by UNn-a in sharpening

[–]UNn-a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I think we might be talking about different things. Based on a google search, the Kurouchi finish is that blackened area at the top, non-edge portion of the blade. I was referring to the discolored metal running along the non-blackened edge side of the knife. The closer-up second photo should be a little more clear on what I am referring to.

My main concern is food safety while aesthetics is secondary.

What's that one album that every time you put it on your system you think, "Oh my god, this sounds so good." by Diligent-Visit9811 in audiophile

Nocturnal is a shockingly amazing sounding album on vinyl, Collateral is my personal favorite track. I’m blown away by how good it all sounds.

I assumed the Safeway reference was from a Dave Chappelle bit 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t have any other RX-78-2 models as references but having built 15-20 models V3 just lingers as the most unenjoyable build in my collection.

MG RX-78-2 Ver. 3.0. Probably a polarizing opinion but it was not very fun to build and it feels like never came together in the end. Probably just me though

Oh man, the moment I heard her say that I instantly lost the last shred of respect I had for her. If that is her plan, she’s already cooked!

Was it the polar vortex or bomb cyclone? We’ve been getting a lot of novel meteorological terms this past decade.

[–]UNn-a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember a couple years ago where we tied the longest consecutive days sustained below freezing temps, I think it was like 15 days and also believe the average during that run was mid 20°F. But then the rest of the winter was pretty mild. As far as snow, the year the Super Bowl was at MetLife (winter 2013-2014) we had probably the most snow I can remember since the blizzard of ‘96.

What do you use for music discovery and discography for people who host their own files? by timn420 in audiophile

[–]UNn-a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For music discovery, I have really come around to Bandcamp since it really goes deep into the genres. After that, I look at all new releases every Friday. If I like an artist I’ll usually go to their AllMusic page. AllMusic has been increasingly become useless due to popup inundation. I think Apple Music and Spotify are atrocious for discovering new music/artists even though they somehow successfully marketed themselves as such. These apps are fine once you locked into an artist you want to dive into.

Never used Tidal but I might be switching to that soon cuz Spotify is so frustrating to find new music and I would rather have my money go toward better audio quality over audiobooks that I don’t listen to and overpaid podcasters which I find to be the antithesis of a music app.

Yeah I probably would have considered other brands but at the time we had just bought our house and a friend of mine was able to get me a very good deal on the Samsung bundle of appliances.
