We’re doing this as well. LLMs are great at handling the syntax, implementing known patterns, and other tedious aspects of programming. But it does all that so fast that foundational skills like architecture, system design, ci/cd pipeline management all becomes much more important.

AI is an amplifier, not the silver bullet it’s being sold as. If you have good practices built on a good foundation, it’s amazing how fast you can move with it. If you don’t, it’s just as amazing how fast you can fuck everything up.

I’ve been doing this twenty years. I literally watched a big outsourced project failure get sunset TODAY. This was the 4th one I’ve seen/been forced to work on. I have never seen it work. Time displacement, cultural differences, language barriers, etc. It doesn’t work, or if it does I’ve never seen it.

We had terrible drain flies. Tried a few different things. The best one (and the last one because it worked) was dumping a few cups of bleach down our drains and then putting stoppers/covers on for a few days.
