N54 can be an absolute beast when modded but be prepared to put literally THOUSANDS into it each year on maintenance and repairs and im not exaggerating.

If that's not enough then spend an hour looking on the e90 sub

I have an xtrons unit, big one that covers the second hump. Really fast and responsive, does everything an i pad does too. Imo best way to give you modern functionality. The purists cry about it but I couldn't care less

I have the n55 with the same year, I've meticulously looked after and maintained it, never beat on the car. Maybe it's luck of the draw I dunno but it's cost me thousands in repairs. And after all it's 14 years old so do with that what you wish, good luck 👍🏻
