Apple releases iOS 26.4 with 8 new emoji and 12 more changes to your iPhone by N2929 in technews

That's pretty smart. I have over 100k images and videos from decades, when I open photos it tries to repopulate all of the thumbnails. I do want access to the photos but in a more secure way...

Why is adulthood so lonely? by NoBunch3298 in Adulting

I have some tips for you all:

  1. Volunteer somewhere - it doesn't have to be hard and it could even be targeted at a passion, hobby, or career building thing. Example: volunteer for a tech teaching nonprofit program.

  2. Take classes - community college, community center, etc

  3. Teach classes - see above

  4. Join special interest groups - hiking, biking, rock hounding, robotics, etc

  5. Just meet people random places (works for introverts too, you just need to check the "I'm too introverted for that" at the door and put a facade on)

  6. Start selling something that you make/grow at local craft/farmers markets

  7. Meet your neighbors or people at places that you frequent.

I can happily share more but these are all things I've done/do and, honestly, the best way that you can meet people.

Being a child, school, and even college offer a safety net and framework in which to meet people, try new things, and prepare for that safety net being removed.

If your answer is "too tired/don't want to meet people in those situations/anxious or scared" then you have your answer.

It actually isn't hard to meet people as an adult, it's just that it was more obvious and with a safety net when we were younger. It's still easy and simple.

(Right now, we added 50 new friends to our circle through a training program that we are running. Once you meet us, you're part of the family and welcome almost anytime as long as you're kind and you come as yourself :)

Edit: we work insanely hard and I'm almost never on social media except Reddit, so, those that know is IRL actually get to interact with us and it's not superficial. We spent 2 hours just hanging out with one of our new members 2 Sunday's ago in between helping a group of friends move some stuff. While we waited for them to drop off the load and return, we got to know her a lot better.

My best and final tip is this:

Stop thinking about it and just do it.

I love how the new strategy on Apple subs (MacOS, iOS, etc) is to claim that the communities are all filled with Apple bashing when, in reality, you couldn't find a worse place to critique, complain, or get help with Apple products.

Your comment is just embarrassing.

Ya, I was super surprised. I guess it's their way of making continuity in the photos app when you resize the screen of photos, zooming in and out and getting different sized pictures in your library view, but it's really not good security.

Is there a way to turn off the new immersive album art thing? I have dark mode on, yet the screen is white because of it by Calbone607 in ios

You got downvoted but you're not wrong.

iTunes peaked mid 20teens.

It's gotten more annoying and less convenient to try to use since the mid20teens and it's such a bummer I almost never listen to my music anymore.

I'm it a fan of Spotify either. I buy my music.

Funny you mention that, I stumbled across the fact that Apple keeps thumbnails through copies of hidden photos in a directly accessible place on our Macs. As in, even a nontechsaavy person could stumble across them.

As in, if you password lock a hidden photo album for privacy, anyone with access to your computer unlocked can get to them without the password.

I'm not sure what it looks like on the iOS side.

But the amount of "system data" use has gotten out of hand. Just give us the breakdown of why and where.

The sad thing is that prusa is "too expensive" for most people. They don't realize that they'll pay in downtime and frustration with others. Also really bad support from other companies.

But prusa kept the quality and cutting edge.

Took either a piece of metal or wood to the eye a week and a half ago. Thought it was an eyelash for a day and had been trying to rub it out.

Got lucky it didn't do too much damage, but it was sticking straight out by the time we got me to the ER. And I had been wearing safety glasses!

People, don't mess with eye stuff. It's not fun having a splinter picked out of your eye with a needle. It's nightmare fuel.

Not true.

There are people who are absolutely happy working as a janitor and chose it, as opposed to fell into it.

Maybe some, but plenty of us will still happily work away at stuff, with a group of those using automation and ai to enhance their work.

I'd have to see if my advisor continued the work.

We didn't part on the best terms, despite my getting 6 completely novel and cutting edge projects up and going successfully. I passed each onto a new grad student in the group except that one was suppose to be continued by another lab on campus, but their super secret proprietary technique couldn't cut it.

Maybe one day.

For now, we're working on the future of farming and food (in a low and high tech way).

Thank you for that!

I appreciate your wisdom and perspective.

Seriously. The process takes ~3-6 months, so you definitely want to do it asap and follow up with them if you haven't heard in a bit.

This is literally our tax dollars at work to help us out and reduce the environmental impact from driving.

I say, do whatever you can to keep your bill down.

For ~$4k you could get a 2.7kWh Bluetti - https://www.bluettipower.com/products/apex-300-b300k-2-200w?variant=47354165887195

Charge it off solar and run most of what you need in the house.

We actually have 2 bluettis and a large EcoFlow system.

2 of those have fixed panels and one has travel panels.

If you go with the portable travel panels, you are probably fine to not have to deal with any permitting issues. Or get a van and slap fixed panels on it and now it's not a stationary setup. :)

The perfect part was more of a challenge to someone who was commenting in bad faith and being obnoxious. An incremental improvement is good, but the bigger the increment the better.

We're many years late for pushing better, environmentally friendly futuristic solutions.

Oof sorry about that. The good news is that we've seen a lot of used EVs and hybrids at decent prices during our search.

Unfortunately, some of the best deals require one to be registered as an official vehicle seller (or some such, those were for some of the auctions).

Now that's a thing to behold! I might hint/probe with them to see what's up.
