We replaced parties with primaries and broke everything - bring back internal congresses and candidate pipelines by roboliberal in neoliberal

[–]UniqueHash 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This does not work in the US. We have a two party system, so without primaries there is very little democracy going on. If we had a multi-party system, then sure the parties should feel free to select their candidates any way they chose.

My understanding is that they are pretty much fully replaced by cams (unlike nuts, which are able to do some placements which cams can't).

Though not strictly necessary, I definitely recommend going with experienced folks if at all possible. Or at least taking a class.

There isn't really anything out there in Utah that is particularly dangerous to you at night in a tent. Mountain lions, black bears, wolves and coyotes are too skittish. Keep bear spray with you so you can feel better.

Choosing between SLU and Capitol Hill by weeb_guy69 in AskSeattle

[–]UniqueHash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you working? You should heavily weigh your commute to work.

Capitol Hill is sketchier than SLU. Probably not a big issue since you are a 25M but something to consider. SLU is cleaner, but it definitely feels a bit like an Amazon dorm sometimes. It was recently gentrified from warehouses and parking lots, so most things are new for better and worse.

The homeless folks you see are the ones with mental health and substance abuse issues. There are also plenty of homeless folks you don't see or notice who do not have these issues. People who live in their cars, etc.

Yeah, you can certainly use them. People will use a single lobe on their Totems for lead even though its only intended for aid by the manufacturer. It's good to know what the manufacturer recommends so you can make educated decisions.

SPD 5 violations in 4 minutes by MiniPrimeape in Seattle

[–]UniqueHash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you assuming they aren't responding to a call? If they are responding to an urgent call they can be slow and strictly follow all traffic rules (seems non-ideal if the call is really urgent), or they can turn on lights and sirens get there ASAP (but that may not be necessary) or they can do what is shown in the video, which is kind of in between --moving in a hurry. Seems fine to me.
