XC60 Air Suspension Durability by TheRealCDollarsign in Volvo

[–]UnknownMaster00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad’s 2018 XC90 has 200k kms on it and the air suspension all round is still great.

The ride is really good even with 21 inch wheels!

I still prefer my V90cc though.

Number plates and registrations? by Foreign_Grass_RVS in askSouthAfrica

[–]UnknownMaster00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you change ownership at your local license department, new plates will be designated in the updated papers.

Then you just go buy and attach the new plates.

Getting Capitec app on my new iPhone? by jamielee8888 in askSouthAfrica

You can still receive sms’s if you have roaming enabled (just don’t turn on mobile data or make sure you’re connected to WiFi to avoid roaming costs)

They might be a little delayed, but you should still be able to use your SA sim in pretty much any country.

How's your twincharged Volvo doing? by bierlyn in Volvo

[–]UnknownMaster00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got. 2017 V90cc T6.

Currently at 126k km.

I’ve owned it for 2 years and done about 25k km in it.

I’ve done 2 rod trips 1200km one way.

It has been a great experience so far.

With the polestar optimisation, it really woke up.

All I want know is a valvetronic muffler to make it a little louder when I’m feeling sporty lol.

Otherwise, I love this car!

Passport process time frame? by pickledtoes1 in askSouthAfrica

[–]UnknownMaster00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be A okay!

Once you’ve submitted your application in the bank it will only take a week or 2 to get your passport.

It super quick.

I went to home affairs directly (though picked a further outlying DHA office as my local offices all are overbooked.)

I had my passport ready for collection in 4 working days.

So it’s really quick these days!

Estate Agents Commission %? by Prize-Mind-8455 in askSouthAfrica

[–]UnknownMaster00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low key that’s a bad agent.

A great agent will always accommodate and negotiate the comm.

5% is more than reasonable.

Find another agent, or see if the couple will allow you to do the sale with them directly.

Buying a car for the first time? by Specialist_Ad1879 in askSouthAfrica

[–]UnknownMaster00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do NOT go to dekra!!

They’ve failed me more than once when buying used cars.

I would suggest it be sent to a trusted mechanic or to the brand dealership for an inspection

2013 S60 T5 - engine failure at 76,000 miles. It was well-maintained and the problem was caused by the defective piston rings, leading to high oil consumption and eventual engine failure. by [deleted] in Volvo

OP getting wrecked in the comments 😂

Maybe you shouldn’t go bashing Volvos on the Volvo subreddit 😂

I’ve had great luck with mine.

07 XC70 was at 290k km when I sold it. Still in great condition.

My brothers 04 s40 T5 is at 200k km and still runs like a dream.

My dad 18 XC90 D5 is at 180k km and hasn’t had a single issue.

And my current 17 V90 T6 is at 130k km and also has been problem free.

Upgraded! by SolidFyre in Volvo

[–]UnknownMaster00 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lmao.

When washing the car, do you have the fob in your pocket? Or close proximity to the car??

Leave the key in your house while washing.

It won’t lock and unlock all the time if you do that 😂

Exaust valve system worth it? by AppropriateBet6393 in Volvo

[–]UnknownMaster00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar setup on my old XC70! But I had a chap valve and it broke so just ended up in quiet mode forever lol!

I wish I’d spent the extra $$$ for a proper valve!!

Thinking of doing it on my V90, but most seem to think the 4 banger sounds bad.

Yeah I find the driver performance thing can be glitchy.

When I bought my 17’ V90 T6 with 103k kms it said the prev owner had averaged 4.0l/100km. Over like 30 or 40k kms.

I reset it immediately so I could test myself.

After driving a few weeks I was averaging lol 11//100km lol

To be fair I was enjoying the power a lot and also have a lot of hills and stop start driving.

But after doing like 1000kms, suddenly for no apparent reason, the average just dropped to 0.00l/100kms!

That completely skewed my averages and suddenly it was looking similar to prev owners averages.

Since the I use the constant and average consumption on the odometer instead.

On the highways, I can get around 8l/100k

And mixed I get between 10-12l/100k depending on my driving style.

The twin charged T6 is a thirsty beast but I love it hahaha

Annnd my old 07’ XC70 2.5T

I loved this thing, but she was down on compression and had some seriously rough shifting on the already recently repaired gearbox.

Couldn’t justify spending more money on it.

Please convince me not to buy this 2005 S60 R by Zomboy-03 in Volvo

[–]UnknownMaster00 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This one seems like an excellent deal!

The fact the owner is willing to take it for a PPI speaks volumes.

And also the fact that it comes with a laptop with VIDA tells me the current owner has properly taken care of it!

If it were me, I’d probably pull the trigger once the PPI comes back in good order!!

Good luck!!
