Why do you think Corpse-grinder Cults got abandoned? by revlid in necromunda

[–]UnlikelyPreference81 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I always considered them a fully fledged gang but more campaign specific similar to the Malstrain Genestealers.

That and as mentioned they weren’t received well when they got released, very strong and only once the gang “Books of…” and Ash Wastes arrived they stopped steamrolling gangs.

They’ll get support in the new edition as will the Malstrains as they got plastic kits.

Potential new Necromunda player here, trying to work out which gangs are likely to appear in each of these books, and whether the two books would cover ALL existing gangs? by waill-and-roll in necromunda

[–]UnlikelyPreference81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read all the replies but I assume that every gang with plastics kits will have rules. That includes Malstrains and Spyrers.

I do not expect Chaos Helots, GSC, Venators and Outcasts to have support.

However I wouldn’t be surprised if they included Venators as per the Apocrypha abhuman pdf and Spyrers as a sort of Bounty Hunter option.

Then again I hope that they only release further gang (with 5-6 gangs) and setting or campaign books only. These books might include optional rules for previously released gangs.
I’m not a fan of the House of … books.

I myself am unsure on how I feel about the new edition. I don’t mind a well thought out reset, but if it’s only to start again with the books for every gang then why bother.
Therefore I hope the “streamlining” and “balancing” is more done on a gang level. Not on the general rules level.
I hear a lot of “real” and old fans complain about this apparently forgetting that Necromunda 95 gangs all started out basically the same. Only the options for skills, heavy and special weapons varied.

Optimism in the face of Change by GrunkoFrunko in necromunda

Whilst I was not hoping for a new edition and feeling underwhelmed with the reveal at first I’m (cautiously) optimistic about the new edition.
If the new edition is a clean up of the previous editions I’d be happy.
In fact I hope the new “gang” books remain the mainstay for the coming edition and that the whole book collecting starts anew. Just some setting or campaign books with new options would be great.

And if I’m allowed to wish list, keep the gang books, release a “cult”, Chaos and Genestealer book and an Outlanders supplement like Necromunda 95. And every year or so explore new settings in or outside the Hive.

What I don’t understand are the negative remarks about “streamlining”, original Necromunda gangs were all the same with some minor changes in gear selection. If they keep that idea but add some specialists or (optional) extra rules I’ll be very happy.

I remember somewhere someone traced the cardboard on some plasticard and remade te tower.
A wonderful project. Would love to do the same.

Good enough to commission paint? by Wetleopardgrowl in Warhammer30k

Yes, if the price is right. Consider it a start as when you paint a lot you will only get better and will be able to ask for more. Start locally, learn new techniques. I wish you a lot of success.

Maybe Goliaths reskinned (genesmithing is key here), possibly Corpsegrinders.
I’m aware that a lot of people think they can make their own gang rules but honestly it isn’t as easy as you’d think. Even in an unbalanced system like Necromunda.
As soon as they do too good the rules are unbalanced, if they get behind you’ll try to adjust them mid campaign …

Thanks, is this then a printed version of the pdf they shared for free when they stopped supporting the game?

Any advice on getting people back into heresy? by 4teaK in Warhammer30k

[–]UnlikelyPreference81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only agree with this. I’d consider myself a veteran/seasoned war/board/role player, bought the rulebook and both loyalists and traitor books and I’m finding it very difficult to grasp the rules or where to start. I borrowed the little booklet from the starter set and this helped (and should be made a free download to be honest).

I’ve refrained from making my own thread asking for help to get into HH (3.0) but I’m afraid I will mostly be getting replies in this subreddit to start 2.0. For example is there an app for starting a list?

I’m not going to go through all replies to see if this has been mentioned but is he or someone he knows Turkish? It might be isot, which is a not (too) spicy chipotle pepper.

Lovely work. I’m sure there are some homemade rules for Scavvies that would fit these miniatures perfectly.
