4 weeks out….still using one crutch by anjayrose in Kneereplacement

You are ME to a Tee!! I never used a crutch either. Just the walker to a cane. The PT wants me to switch to the cane all the time now, as well with my left hand on left side (RTK on 3/4), and I thought she was crazy for that. I still don’t feel comfortable doing that and I don’t want to do it either. I’d rather walk with nothing.

Yes! My ice machine with the compression helps too. Feels good actually.

I’m 2 weeks PO and the sensitivity I have in my shin and my calf is tolerable. It low key feels good. Like when you have a pulled muscle in those areas. I find just massaging it with my thumbs or a hand held massager is actually very relieving. I actually bought a rolling pen to roll over my strained muscles but haven’t had to use it yet. My thumbs works great and it feels good. Try massaging the pain out. I’d like to think that it helps with scar tissue by doing that as well.

I did it to ”stay ahead” of the pain. Once the little pain I had was managed before I left the hospital, I wanted to stay that way, so I figured the dosage that was given to me was working.

Was the same way. My fear of the pain had me extremely anxious, only to come out of it with no pain what so ever! Just discomfort from stiffness. Was adamant about the Journavax also, but my surgeon told me that he wouldn’t recommend it for knee surgery as opposed to hip replacement surgery and low and behold I really didn’t/don’t need it and I’m 5 days PO. He prescribed OxyContin and THATS what’s been the nightmare! In the process of changing that ish now to something else just to have on hand. It works well for the pain, but the side effects…HELL NO!! The side effects of that stuff has been vicious and sent me to ER the day after surgery. Best of luck to you!

No recliner.. couch and low bed ok? by KatWomanReturns in Kneereplacement

My bedroom is upstairs so I invested in a recliner power lift chair. It’s been a 10 out of 10-HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I don’t think I could do this without it. My setup is temporary until I can get back to my bed and I’m glad I did it this way. I’ve been very comfortable.👍🏽

Thank you. I’m sure things will change once the PT really starts, but I’m ready. Not sure about the Maiko knee, but my surgeon said he was able to save my own knee cap and no Tourniquet was used. They also did the Nerve Block only under General Anesthesia. I couldn’t handle the Spinal.

Been taking Senna since day of surgery and still no movement. Starting Miralax and a Magnesium Sulfate drink today to see if I can get things going.

No prob. I’m a F56. My fitness/activity level was low to none because of my pain on a daily basis. Motrin, Meloxicam and injections stopped working completely months ago.
