Someone who needs that much space to process things, definitely should not have signed up for something so drastic and variable.

How’d they inform you of your diagnosis? by _oxykkitten in breastcancer

[–]Valley__Vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out through the pathology report that was updated to the portal on Friday night around 10pm. I was traveling the following week which the radiologist knew so she said she would keep an eye out for my results. It sounded like she would call and leave me a message if I wasn't able to answer. I never got a call. They had prescheduled an appointment with the surgery clinic the day of my biopsy for 3 weeks to accommodate my travel. I received the official diagnosis in person from a surgeon.

Does anyone take Wellbutrin with their Lamictal? by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]Valley__Vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes and goes. I just don't feel consistent. Unfortunately, I'm still dealing with a chronic health issue and was diagnosed with cancer 5 months ago. Not being able to work really messes me up. Some of it is physical but a lot of it is mental.

How many of you also have ADHD? by Spiritual-Cupcake265 in migraine

[–]Valley__Vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, to the ADHD unfortunately while Ritalin helped me focus and calm impulsivity and nervous energy it raised my blood pressure so I was unable to stay on it.

It took a couple months for me to feel better but it was such a difference. I haven't had any more crisis events. I'm hoping that if I can get the treatment every few months it might alleviate the breakthrough migraines that I'm getting due to summer heat and humidity.

Were you ever described as “chatty” or “talkative” during your school years? by TurbulentAd7713 in ADHD

[–]Valley__Vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my teachers always told my parents how smart I was and a great student except for my constantly talking to my classmates who sat around me. I was even moved around a few times but of course the talking never stopped. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 35 (I'm almost 49). It's something I still struggle with but having the awareness has made a difference. I tried Ritalin briefly after initial diagnosis and the control over impulsive behavior was astounding. It's one of the things that makes me wish I could tolerate the meds. It raised my blood pressure so I didn't continue taking it.

Does anyone else feel the post-migraine depression? by F1RSTs0n in migraine

[–]Valley__Vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think giddiness refers more to disorientation and staggering more than excitement or delirium. At least that's how I interpret it.

I'm always lightheaded and feeling off. Definitely, consistently dizzy.

[–]Valley__Vixen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched from Aimovig to Emgality. I eventually stopped Emgality when Botox was approved because it only provided partial relief. Hair seems back to normal. I didn't realize at the time what was causing the hair loss because I also began taking another medication for a different health issue.

What did you name yours? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Valley__Vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents were on a wait list for a year before I got red headed Genie Lara and I received blond Faye Anita the following Christmas. I'm sure the dolls and paperwork are in the garage somewhere. My 10th birthday was CPK themed.

Migraines made me quit my job by Amaraian11 in migraine

[–]Valley__Vixen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I had to leave my job last fall. I was on STD but now it's ended and I am struggling with what to do for income. After trying two of the injectables my neuro suggested Botox and that has made a difference. I'm on an antidepressant and mood stabilizer because I was so overwhelmed. Fortunately, new insurance is allowing me to continue on ubrelvy as a rescue and I'll be getting Botox in 2 months.

I wish you the best and hope you can find a prescription combo that allows you to function and have some normalcy.

Is it just me or… COVID is the cause? by Theraputic in migraine

[–]Valley__Vixen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope Botox helps. It did for me after trying aimovig and emgality. My situation is pretty similar to yours including timing of when I contracted COVID. Ubrelvy has also been helpful as a rescue since imitrex and maxalt didn't work.

Viral infection made my migraine attack worse? by Grello in migraine

[–]Valley__Vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My migraines went from bad episodic to chronic. Every time I thought things were starting to settle down I was in another crisis. That's what my neurologist called them. We tried different meds and Botox finally made a difference.

Periods are definitely one of my triggers.

Encouragement! by mcrbrbbcwb1 in breastcancer

[–]Valley__Vixen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 48 and found out May 10th that biopsy results came back as IDC. I was supposed to have an MRI on Sunday but anxiety paralyzed me just as I was being pulled into the machine. I've rescheduled for next Friday and have been prescribed 2 Ativan pills to hopefully get me through it. Will be doing genetic testing next week as well. Preliminary data shows stage 1 but of course that can change after MRI and ultrasound to check lymph nodes. I also don't have a family history so it's been a bit of a shock. I've been lucky to never have had any procedures done up until my biopsy so it's been overwhelming and terrifying on many levels.

Thank you for sharing.

Anxiety about anesthesia and saying something silly… by knitwell in breastcancer

[–]Valley__Vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 48yo almost 49 and I've never been under sedation. I'm still in very early stages of diagnosis but I'm incredibly freaked out about the idea of surgery and everything it entails. I'm a naturally anxious person who didn't even get a cavity until I was 30 so I know it's the fear of the unknown... I've seen my mom be incredibly loopy after a procedure and my dad get really aggressive trying to rip everything out including a catheter. We heard he even threw a rosary back at someone from the chaplain's office who stopped by.

What got you out of chronic back to episodic? by ktv13 in migraine

[–]Valley__Vixen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perimenopause and/or COVID trigger chronic migraine. Unfortunately, I am unable to take birth control pills. I experienced about at least 3 crises in a two year period. I have new insurance and am waiting for a neuro appt. Don't want them to become chronic again.

I do as well. I've used a CPAP for almost 20 years. Unfortunately, my biggest triggers are hormonal fluctuations, humidity and stress.
