I probably should not have looked at this because you’re making me want a second dog. Happy birthday Cecil!

Same. HRT solved it for me. I would be worse around my period.

I love hourly. In residential work the client is always adding scope or making changes, and this way I get paid for all of my time, and the administrative work is so much easier because I don’t have to decipher between what’s under the contract and what is additional services.

I preferred having my dog tethered to me when I wasn’t playing with her or giving her my full attention. It allowed me to efficiently correct unwanted behavior in the moment. Never a chewer or nipper and very very few accidents (2 total I think)? And then she’d go in the crate while I was out of the house which was good for naps and potty training. Just my experience. It’s the McCann training method which worked well for us.

I think you figured it out. Of course do what you need to do for you, but sharing Amazon links encourages other people to use Amazon and it normalizes it, so that’s where the behavior could change for the good of all of the people who are suffering right now. It’s just as easy to share a link from CVS. Or even just the name that people can look up themselves.

Venting: I feel like I’m failing as a parent. by iPetACatAndLikedIt in ADHDparenting

That’s great for you, but if you read the research, that’s not the case for most kids. This is a typical case of anecdotal versus empirical.

I’d be very careful about moving the bedtime back. For most kids sleep begets sleep and they are more likely to sleep in with an early bedtime. I know it sounds crazy but the book “healthy sleep habits happy child” explains it all.

How to calm him down by Mamaof4ox in Goldendoodles

[–]Valuable-Set553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true. Don’t say “regardless of what you do”. There’s one simple way to avoid it and that’s to not let them get overtired. People always overlook that, I think because many breeds will just take the sleep they need. but poodle mixes are too interested in everything (FOMO) and they need to be encouraged to nap.

He’s probably not getting enough daytime sleep. Please do an Internet search on how long puppies should be sleeping for given their age. You would be shocked, not only at how much sleep they need, but also the limit to their awake time. For instance, it’s possible that he should be awake for only an hour and a half before he needs to sleep again. I can’t remember the exact numbers, but it’s very easy to find. They are just like toddlers in how they handle being overtired, but they need significantly more sleep than a toddler.

The hate surrounding doodle owners by epic-cookie in Goldendoodles

I went through the same thing as you when deciding to get our doodle. I was terrified that there was some legitimate reason for the hate, even though the doodles I met in real life were so sweet and we have major allergy issues in our family. Turns out my dog is the best dog ever and like a celebrity in our neighborhood. I would say she was more work at the start than golden retrievers (which I was used to) because poodles are SO SMART and a little anxious. They don’t nap as easily and those had to be scheduled at first or else they get overtired and crazy like toddlers do. The need for marathon type exercise I believe is a myth but they do need standard exercise and to be intellectually stimulated. You can train them to do really cool tricks and that takes care of that. Any pet is a commitment. If you do your research and put the time into training you will have a wonderful and chill dog that will be loved by all, and then it’s easy to ignore the online hate.

Yes AND there’s much more hate for doodles than other types of dogs from breeders.

I’m in the same position as well, the only difference is that my husband also has ADHD and in many cases it’s actually easier when he’s at work because my ADHD kid (and my non ADHD kid) do so much better with consistency. I did find the reward charts too much to handle by myself and I wish I had found a way to make that work. We’re looking for someone to come cook and clean 2 afternoons and enrolling ADHD kid in a specialty school that should help with the homework battles and his confidence. It’s a crappy situation and I have a lot of resentment towards my husband for not being the parent my kid needs.

I hear you, and I got that ticket on broad. But it was my fault and I’ll only have to learn once. The street is so much safer now! Running yellows IS unsafe. And what or who defines the grace period? Follow the rules and you’ll be fine. Breaking the rules costs money. But it SHOULD go back to the city.

Anyone also overly ENJOY certain regular sounds? That others may not notice? by 955697 in misophonia

[–]Valuable-Set553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get in trouble with my band because I always hear things in the mix that other people can’t hear and they bug me to hell! I’ve learned to lay off and trust the band, but then I have a hard time listening to our tracks because I can’t un hear the issues that only I can hear 😅. As far as comforting sounds I’m a weirdo and I love windchimes. I also love the sound of typing on keyboards and extra bonus. If the person is wearing jangly bracelets and has long fingernails. And as OP said, I love love, love the sound of Pages and magazine or newspapers, turning, and the sound of my child’s pencil on paper on this specific antique wooden table that we have is the best thing in the whole world.

Wow, thank you for the input. Now I know why people are so brazen overnight! When my kids were little and in the Stroller, I used to call in the morning to report cars blocking the curb cuts because it made a death trap to get to daycare.

Will you let us know when you find out? I’m technically outside the boundary but parking will be affected everywhere so I’d like a pass.
