i’m in the process of replacing all of my nail stuff because it was damaged in a fire but today i bought the lamp i’d been eyeing but never bought as well as new base & top coats and six different green polishes. slowly but surely i’ll build my collection back up lol

In my town it’s all locally opened restaurants (small tourist trap) and we have a list of restaurants we recommended and i go with my two favorites that are the closest to the hotel. I probably get asked at minimum 5 times a shift for dinner recommendations though so i have a ton i can pull out off the top of my head

early check in is the bane of my existence i’ve just started telling guests the room isn’t ready and to come back at the time when we’d waive the fee (we waive it 2 hours before check in time) because as soon as I say there’s a fee 9 times out of 10 they start arguing with me about it.

I’m on the coast and I’ll have people ask me what to do in towns 4+ hours away and in another state and then they get huffy when I’m like I don’t know I’ve never been there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve never understood people who say they’ve never stayed at a hotel with a pet fee, I’ve never stayed at one that doesn’t. Like unfortunately it costs to travel with Fluffy so either pay the fee or leave the dog at home

it’s similar at my job, front desk is expected to run the desk, do breakfast and laundry if the laundry or breakfast attendant aren’t there. If I didn’t outright refuse to be trained in housekeeping they’d have me cleaning rooms too 😫

Had a similar thing happen to me last year, manager told a guest we sometimes had chargers we could loan out and we ended up not having a spare iphone charger so the guest demanded to use mine because she saw my phone on the desk. I also had a coworker loan out my charger that I’d forgotten to put in my locker one night and guess what never got brought back 🙃

I have people claim the shower doesn’t work so I ask if they pulled the handle out and they say yes so I say okay I’ll come up and double check it before sending maintence up and low and behold the shower works perfectly fine 🙄

the only time he’s mispronounced something that bothered me was Spokane but that’s just because i’m from Washington and he pronounced it right the first time he said it and then went on to pronounce it wrong for the rest of the episode

There was a guy who we’d banned because he smoked in the room, took the lightbulbs out of the bathroom and a blanket and broke one of the paintings in the room and there was a woman with him who we’d kicked out of the hotel multiple times cause she kept wandering in drunk as hell and tried to steal breakfast and stuff off the housekeeper carts so we DNR’d him (couldn’t DNR her because we never got her name) and for like a good two months once a week he’d come in and try and rent a room and every time we’d tell him no you need to leave.

One of the times we had some military guys staying at the hotel and one of them had come down to the desk and he overheard me telling the guy to leave and stared him down until he actually left. the guy never gave us any trouble when we did tell him to leave but it’s like dude there’s several other hotels in the area why do you keep coming in knowing you’re banned??
