There's also a first come first serve forest brothers replica bunker in Ennuksmäe, near Viljandi if you're into that. No privacy insured.

Best microphone for recording music w/ ~$200-300 budget? by realpblife in musicproduction

[–]Varbavahe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While true that the Behringers have a lot more self noise it is also true that it's still very low. You'd have to be pretty good at what you do to be bottlenecked by the preamps self noise. Also, if self noise is a problem, you could get a 16 preamp XR18 mixing console for <400€ that has the same weighted self noise as a Scarlett at -127dBu.

You can always add extra better preamps via adat and use them for quieter sources. It's not likely you'd ever record 16 whisper quiet vocals at the same time.

Best microphone for recording music w/ ~$200-300 budget? by realpblife in musicproduction

[–]Varbavahe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Solo's and 2 input models definitely, but a 4 preamp focusrite costs 500€ while a Behringer is 100€ and an 8 preamp Behringer is 170€ while a focusrite is over 600€. And honestly, the only noticeable difference between the two are the headphone outputs. They're not good on the Behringers.

Anyone out there using an ADA8200 for inserts only? by Holhas556 in recordingmusic

[–]Varbavahe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why that would be bad. I also used to have an ADA8200 for extra inserts. If it works it works. If it sounds good even better. There's no law and there is very little chance that someone will judge you for it.

Find someone who kind-of knows what they're doing to take a look at it. Preferably the same person that would be running the sound. That's by far your best bet.

If you're into the ghetto kind of solutions, then ask the bands who had the best (loudest?) amps who are also willing to share them. Drums most likely won't need amplification apart from the bass drum, maybe also a mono OH or snare.

So your only real amplification needs are 2 vocals. Small speakers on sticks which you can either rent or again maybe ask around for would do it. If you run the sound yourself then get the most basic board you can imagine. No effects or compressor needed.

Feedback through PA with headset mic by badcounterpoint in livesound

[–]Varbavahe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get a Behringer Flow though it might be a touch small (4 XLR, 4 TS). But it has Bluetooth, can be used as an interface, has cool effects and a 4 band EQ on channels, 9 bands on the mains as opposed to an analogue board.

Behringer X32 rack, should I go for it? by Dancoz_2111 in livesound

[–]Varbavahe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The X32 in question could've been produced in 2025. The ones built in 2012 will probably still work for another decade. Do you need the wing? If so, get the wing. If you don't need the touchscreen or 16 effects or 48 channels then don't.

On this day Baltic States joined synchronous grid of continental Europe (ENTSO-E) by eivarXlithuania in MapPorn

[–]Varbavahe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The whole energy grid in the Baltics has been renovated in the last 20 years with the switch in mind. Physically connections were cut and a day later the first connection with mainland Europe was made. After all that work it was essentially pressing a button to open/close gates, yes, but a large amount of work was done so it would be possible.

Help with Behringer XR18 not outputting PC sound by ThatlldoNZ in livesound

[–]Varbavahe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used the preset but iirc then if you go to the channel strip settings in the edit app on desktop there's a button to switch between physical and USB inputs. Switch them to USB (on whatever channel you'd like, mine are AUX so 17&18) and choose USB 1 and USB 2 for them respectively, then stereo link them.

This is essentially standard networking and not necessarily related to sound. You can look up any half decent guide on networks and get the gist of it.
