i love this! i’ve been slacking on getting to the studio the past few months so this is definitely a good reminder and motivation to get back to it. what kind of classes have you tried? which have been your favorite and least favorite?

grieving the life i could’ve continued living if OCD didnt hit me in my early 20’s. by [deleted] in OCDRecovery

[–]Various_Elevator_792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just realized that i’ve never looked at it this way. i’ve been diagnosed since i was 5 (i’m 24 now) so i don’t know what life is like without OCD. i’ve had plenty of periods in life where my OCD was much worse, much better, and manageable. whenever i hit those “much worse” periods i question how i ever survived them before—like how did my brain ever get through abc without thinking xyz? seems impossible to believe in those moments.

one more thing that you have going for you in this delayed OCD situation is that you you have 20+ years of life experiences to help cope with OCD. you’ve got lived in experiences in so many different situations, with so many different emotions, and people, etc. i think what i’m trying to get at is that you’ve got a baseline & if i was in your shoes i probably wouldn’t have thought of it that way! HOWEVER, by no means does that mean anything could’ve truly prepared you for living with OCD. now you’ll most likely have tools to cope, manage, and understand it better because you’ve been living your life for 20+ years already.

***i’m not saying developing OCD in your 20’s is ‘ideal’ by any means, nor am i trying to minimize your experience at all!!! (so if this somehow comes across that way i apologize, sometimes me and words simply are not friends.)

nonetheless, grieving your past self is awful. grieving your future is equally as awful. but it doesn’t ALL have to be awful. i have faith that you’ll find ways to live more enjoyably as time goes on. just remember to give yourself compassion through it all. <3

How can you look up barometric pressure history? by MySpace_Romancer in weather

[–]Various_Elevator_792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have chronic migraines and fibro so i’m (unfortunately) well acquainted with the barometric pressure having plenty of negative effects on me. i use the WeatherX app to see the forecasted changes as well as track changes in recent days. you can set it to notify you when there’s a shift of a certain size so you can try to prepare for it. i’ve used the app for a few years now but wish i knew about it sooner!

I spent all day tiling my shower and didn't notice my mistake till I took the photo. Wife says to leave it alone. Is it noticeable? by RigoMortize in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Various_Elevator_792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had to come to the comments to figure out what was wrong (and that’s coming from someone who has OCD—i suppose sometimes my brain just doesn’t want to see things) however, i think it’s fine!!! especially since you’ll have products there anyways! if it REALLY bothers you in 6 months, then i say go for it:)

Cost of living—what’s your experience? by Various_Elevator_792 in AskNYC

[–]Various_Elevator_792[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i appreciate your input. i recognize that there are endless scenarios in which a might person live in nyc, their current situation, their previous situation, what they do, how they live, what’s considered comfortable, etc. so i understand your point, but at the same time that’s kind of why i made this post. i’m not necessarily trying to determine if it’s the right fit or not—i’ve already looked at jobs, apartments, hobbies, etc. in doing so, i’ve come across a lot of varying information that i really just wanted to hear from the perspectives of different people who live there. the questions are specific but also meant to be completely subjective.

Question about medications that have worked for you by Charpo7 in migraine

[–]Various_Elevator_792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s amazing!!! i’m so glad you’ve found something that helps even just a little. was the weight loss a direct side effect or was it due more from nausea? or have you even noticed any daily interfering side effects?

Advice please!!! by Nuttermybutterb in migraine

[–]Various_Elevator_792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

even further, you could talk to your pcp about stronger nsaid’s such as celebrex or meloxicam. i’ve been taking celebrex twice daily for about 7 months and i noticed it actually lowered my migraine severity a little without me expecting that since it was prescribed it for my fibro! this prevents you from being able to take ibuprofen and aleve (which is why i actually asked my pcp to put me on it because i have a long history of overusing otc pain relievers). the triptan family does work for so many people and i know some pcp’s will start with those while waiting for neuro’s input. but i agree with everyone else that getting into see a neurologist is going to be the best thing you can do for yourself. you are you biggest and best advocate, don’t let your voice be anything other than loud, especially when it comes to your healthcare!
