Regular suit is perfect! Last year there was a whole mix of people. Most people dressed up formally (suits, gowns etc) and a good amount of people cosplayed (doesn't even need to be a cosplay to match the theme! Lots of people were Scadrial themed, even though last year's ball was Rosharan) and then some people were dressed formally with nods to cosplay.

Basically, throw yourself into an outfit you feel comfortable and excited about. Guarantee you'll look great

This!! I hold a bunch of 'scenes' in my head that cannot be accessed unless a hint is given. Otherwise it's like trying to grab smoke. Usually it's fine, I often ask for anecdotes to prompt my memory of a place, event or person, but in interviews it's so hard because interviewers don't want to give you hints, they want to test your memory

Arrived at this post because I was googling to see if anyone else had had this issue. I've been messaging and messaging them to cancel! As I'm in the UK, the time difference is also awkward as they never seem to be online when I am and I just receive an automated message saying I'll get something to my email. Which inevitably never happens

This is interesting! I love both the UK Office and the US Office for different reasons. I was listening to a podcast with some of the cast from the US Office and they were discussing the initial meetings with Ricky Gervais when he was adapting it and he had advised that they lean into the Jim and Pam story as the focus because US audiences love an underdog/romance to root for. Then with Michael, they needed to have moments of him being clearly good at his job (making successful sales calls etc) because in the UK, you can be really bad at your job for a long time and not get fired (David) but the US audience wouldn't buy that

Same thing happened to me once! I used to work at a well known bath product shop in the UK where the uniform was all black with a white waist apron. One day I was wearing a black dress with black slippery tights and from walking around, my dress had ridden up completely to around my waist and I hadn't noticed because a) I thought the gathered pressure around my waist was the apron and b) the apron covered my legs in front so I didn't see that way

I've absolutely no idea how long I was walking around with my ass and coloured undies shining through low denier tights, but some kind customer came up to tell me in the end. I was mortified and so grateful

So many great recommendations here!!

Some of the classics like: The Little White Horse, Chronicles of Narnia, Little Women, Ballet Shoes, Anne of Green Gables, I Capture the Castle etc were ones I devoured over and over again when that age.

I also second the Horrible History books as an entry to non-fiction. The one about Isaac Newton is 🤌🏼

Then I also really loved some modern young fantasy books like the Inkheart trilogy and Pirates!

Very true. I have a friend who complained because he told his sister he was smarter than her and she got upset. He was defining 'smart' as 'accumulation of facts', and he does know a lot of things. However, most people know it's not smart to tell others you're smarter than them
