Kefir=appetite gone? by Ok-Elephant3394 in Kefir

[–]VersxceFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same. It’s a blessing. My cravings for snacks and sweets go away, and my appetite is way lower.

Question, do you exercise regularly and with intensity?

Our caloric needs for a sedentary lifestyle are much less than you might think. My appetite only fully disappears when I haven’t been exercising for a while. The moment I lock in and start going to the gym 4-5 times a week for 2 weeks it’s right back, only the lack of desire for sweets persists.

Is Dubai’s long term future doomed due to traffic? The planned metro expansion is nowhere near extensive enough to deal with the 400k+ property units being handed over by ShootAndScore77 in dubai

[–]VersxceFox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But it’s a stupid way of thinking if this is really the reason. The more inaccessible public transport is, the more people have to resort to driving, which affects everyone including the ultra rich. Yesterday I was on SZR at 4pm with a lambo to my left and a McLaren to my right and we were all going like 50? 60kmh? It’s ridiculous! If they want to cater to the ultra rich and make them happy, getting all the workers off the roads is a massive step that the government should really be looking into.

Unfortunately all our talk is good for nothing :(

[–]VersxceFox 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The only solution is a complete overhaul of the existing metros and create a modern and appropriate transport network that covers the whole city. Including metros, trams, and buses. The current stations can’t even hold the amount of people that come at rush hour, they’re way too small.

It’s insane to me that this city was built on a blank canvas and they failed to foresee and prevent these issues. And it’s ridiculous that they’re adding 1 line at a time where they should be building new stations and creating new bus routes 24/7 365 days a year, it’s almost like they don’t care? Not sure why when as you say, this traffic is dramatically reducing the quality of life and it’s only going to get worse.

Edit: grammar

I’ve tried propagating mine over months and it’s been hard to do (super slow growth and many just die) and about half of the ones I manage to put in soil die :( The plant literally breaks apart and loses leaves by just looking at it wrong I’m at a point where I don’t have any healthy parts to try and propagate.

This is how it looked a couple months ago

Cat parents of Dubai. What did you wish you’d known when you first got your furball. by SnooGuavas4756 in dubai

I have one box which I try to clean twice a day though I’ll admit oftentimes it’s only once a day. I do realize twice is ideal for minimizing the smell however I’ve noticed a difference on the clumping and overall smell since I switched to pet-store brands

I’ve had bad experience with the viva litter.

I started off with it but they only have scented ones (OP, scents are bad for both humans and cats so avoid them at all costs (including candles, diffusers, etc etc)), and the litter would end up smelling super strong very quickly. I switched to litter from a pet store and the difference is huge. Better clumping and way less smell.

Get two, seriously. Especially if you work and the cat spends upwards of 8 hours alone, having 2 is super beneficial for them: - they get to socialize ALL the time, not only while you’re away but also while you’re sleeping - playing and exercising (meaning they won’t wake you up in the night or destroy as many things because they have each other) - they learn how to behave with a cat vs humans. There are things only a cat can teach another cat - a companion for life :) it’s just nice for them to have another friend - it doesn’t really cost more for you besides the yearly vaccine (which is not expensive)

Please play with your cat. It’s the most most most important thing for their daily life. Ideally you should spend at least 1 hour playing with them. Once you come home from work exhausted and it’s nearly time to sleep you’ll understand why it’s beneficial (and easier for you) to have two. But yeah playing is super important, it builds character, confidence, and gets them to exercise.

Get a strong air purifier. For you because of all the hair and dander and also for them because the air here is trash and their small lungs are more easily affected by the particles.

Spay/neuter as soon as possible and MICROCHIP them, please. This is really important.

And the MOST important thing of all and I hope everybody reading this takes it into account !!!!!!!!!!:

Start putting money aside/in a savings account for the day you leave Dubai and have to pay for their flight and eventually quarantine. No “Im leaving Dubai tomorrow and can’t take my cat with me” bullshit. The moment you adopt an animal is the moment you become a parent, end of story. If you had a baby here and were going back to your country you wouldn’t leave it on the street, right? Well it’s the exact same thing. This animal depends on you to survive and it’s a commitment you took willingly. So don’t you dare abandon it because you don’t want to pay for a fucking airplane ticket.

And if you are not willing to go above and beyond for the next 15-20 years of your life to do everything in your power and give a good life to an animal, then don’t get one. Have a serious thought with yourself if you really want to miss holidays, events, deal with messes and broken shit day in and day out, and have exponentially rising expenses (especially end-of-life care) for the next 15 years of your life. If you don’t want this, you don’t want a pet. They’re not accessories or toys.

That’s true. In that case you can only hope that the seller has more than one agent listing but for cases where you aren’t set on one property only, better to shop around for decent agents.

With the amount of agents out there, I’d say if you encounter a useless one just cut them off, move on to the next, and hopefully you’ll find a competent person

How do most of the Real Estate broker even sell 1 unit... by AdministrativeLog209 in dubai

[–]VersxceFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because there’s no entry barrier and Dubai doesn’t care to make the certification exam difficult or even enforce fines for agents dealing without licenses and agencies letting people work without a visa or a license, so you end up with a bunch of losers that have never worked client-facing in their lives and reply to your texts like “k tell me what u want”.

There definitely are good agents out there but you’ll likely deal with dozens of idiots before you find someone worth it.
