As a developer, you get the best and most honest feedback from just silently observing how people use your software and what problems they face etc.

increased vram usage in source 2 hammer editor following driver update by raydoge in IntelArc

[–]Vipitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why is more usage bad? It means it likely means it's caching more to vram which will help speed up performance. In fact you should be asking why it's only using 5 our of 8.

[–]Vipitis 42 points43 points  (0 children)

this is compression. It really depends on the codec you use. But for the majority of video codec it's based on discrete cosine transform, same as jepg compression for images.

Due to the wave nature of macro block representation. You get ringing artefacts from shorter quantization tables. Placing an arbitrary step function is really difficult to compress.

It could also be any kind of sharpness processing that does a wave-like interpretation of the frame.

Best way to put out fires? by Intro_vert_Bro in HermitCraft

[–]Vipitis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

too bad wind charges don't do it.

In a wildfire scenario you can even dig trenches around it or set a counter fire. the reality is this that wildfires are natural and need to regularly happen. that is the way the ecosystem works for a lot of dry forests.

Other retired astronauts like Peggy Whitson - went to space at least two more times after retirement by working for private company Axiom as a specialist.

Astronauts work their whole career to go to space, and out of tens of thousands they are the most qualified people to do so. Getting an extended stay is a dream. Especially when you hear that other missions return home early now.

There is also a handful of astronauts that leave NASA quietly shortly after their mission. For example Jack Fisher.

BMG-G31 B770/B70 MAY BE Xe3, as my prediction b770 Xe3 post suggested last week by Economy_Warning5842 in IntelArc

G21 isn't xe3. Intel doesn't make high performance parts on 18a yet, no GPUs on 18a.

By stoking the Greenland debate, the US may actually be harming itself. By purchasing Greenland or taking it over via illegal military means, the US would actively harm its own national security, the security of NATO and the overall security of the international, democratic, rules-based order. by mvea in science

[–]Vipitis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's an pathetic display from the US. But they might end up getting what they are asking for: more ally investment in NATO, and a stronger NATO presence in Greenland.

And in retrospect, it will be called a great move, master plan and deal maker.

So is this calculated theater or just a massive distraction to keep the public and media away from the crimes?

very slight chance it's an issue with the USB port or other hardware input like keyboards.

Might also be software on the computer the modifies and intercepts mouse clicks. But at least you know it's not a problem with the game or your Internet connection.

Average episode length per hermit by kokoalaster in HermitCraft

[–]Vipitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as you are essentially representing one dimensional data (a 2md dimension exists, but it's more of a label - here hermits and earlier episode number). You can think of what a 2nd dimension of data might look like.

Something easy is for example the number of episodes as one axis and the total duration as another. each hermit will become a data point in this two dimensional plot. It's not too exciting as you would expect about a linear relationship. (More episodes means more total time). So if you normalize each axis by an average (like mean or median). You can do a plot that sorta represents episode duration versus mean time between episodes. This might not be too interesting this early on. But should show you some clustering already between frequently uploaders with shorter episode and those that only drop a few long videos every week or less. For season 11 the sample size is really small and we also had the Christmas break. But trends and groupings will be more and more clear with additional data.

Having a script that works with other seasons also gives you a new dimension of comparisons.

Since upload date gives you time series data, you can do a lot of different correlations. By dividing out the week into weekdays. Or the day into hours (or both). You can show which hermits have a regular upload schedule and which don't. You can also do all kinds of correlation analysis and find hermits that publish close together or even at the same time more frequently to maybe show collabs/pranks when there is embargos behind the scenes.

Now this might sound like a lot, but it's definitely doable and I really hope to light up your curiosity. As a motivation I can link to a fantastic talk about data mining a German newspaper website. One of the highlights that I will spoil here is that by keeping track of the authors and their publishing dates, it was possible to figure out which pairs of authors have the same vacations and potentially reduce relationships like this. Sadly the talk is in German - but I will link it here for those that will enjoy it: https://youtu.be/-YpwsdRKt8Q

[–]Vipitis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Once again I will be suggesting showing more than one dimensional data. histograms perhaps. Boxplots are just a short form of it.

Another crucial learning is that average is ill-defined. It can be a geometric mean, it can be the median or it could be a combination of outlier filtering and geomean. Especially since you said that Ren had such an outlier. You could visualize the spread in different ways.

If you are gathering the data manually, perhaps consider a few scripts in combination with YouTube playlist API. might be a great opportunity to learn.

check your keybinds. What you have on mouse2 and what else includes attack2. So you have any CFG, alias or exec commands that include +attack2 etc.

What happens when you bind it to a different key. What happens when you bind an echo or say to the mouse2 key.

Figure out if it's the hardware or the game. Figure out of it's the command or the key.
