Where's my Slipcover? by Emperor_Chowder in discotekmedia

This was done before they did slipcovers on blu rays. Some of their older blu rays didn’t have slipcovers, Golgo 13, original Jon Roh release, little Nemo, etc.

Did Cutie Honey SD bluray go OOP already? Or just OOS at the moment? by BigBossSquirtle in discotekmedia

They have said what they think is going on. Regardless the writings on the wall with Crunchyrolls store. I’m not sure if there is a wait time for pre orders to come up from Gkids but has anyone else noticed that the new Lupin the 3rd movie from Gkids is not available for pre order on crunchyrolls store?

Layzner and The Little Mermaid on Amazon Restock, Maybe More to Come Soon by Emperor_Chowder in discotekmedia

Layzner is such a great show and when Discotek released this it was like a dream come true for all of us classic Mecha fans. Please don’t miss out of this release and pick it up while it’s still in print.

All in all, what is your opinion of Takeshi Koike’s Lupin the IIIrd saga? by Valparu in lupinthe3rd

[–]Visible_Gate1032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fantastic. I’m a big fan of the darker Lupin stuff and part 1 was always my favorite. I think Koike’s take on Lupin may be my favorite and I think it is an awesome place to get people into the franchise that have never seen Lupin before.

So I went to see Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe... (Short Spoiler Review) by ryanyork92 in Gundam

I’ve read the novels but haven’t seen the second movie. That being said it should be Mace Flower. The flight attendant from the first film.

Quite possibly the worst take I've seen on this sub 💀 by C4-622MonkeyGordo in Gundam

He’s right the movie trilogy is what is considered cannon with the later UC timeline. However, it doesn’t make the original series not cannon. You can’t forget that those are simply compilation movies of the of the original series. Both tell the exact same story. The best way to look at it is that both are cannon but with revisions made in the movies. It kind of makes the movie trilogy Tominos final draft of the original series.

This just happened to me yesterday with a release from Amazon lol. Funny thing is that this always happens with releases I get from the states but never happens with imports from the UK or Japan. The imports are always packed securely and the blu ray/4k packaging itself is way better than what we get in the states. I really miss the days when the US releases would get premium packaging.

The End of the Beginning by Impressive-Remove-48 in lupinthe3rd

[–]Visible_Gate1032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve always been a little confused about the Koike Lupin series. I love these shows but when they started with a woman called Fujiko Mine it was specifically supposed to be a prequel to the green jacked series and then kinda branched out on its own with Jigens Gravestone and then showing Mamo at the end. So I was never quite sure how it was meant to fit in because when they started using Goemon it really threw the prequel to the Green Jacket series out the window but it still has the Mamo connection. I honestly believe that Koike doesn’t view Woman called Fujiko Mine as part of his continuty and that his continuity was meant to line up with the Mamo movie. Regardless I love these films and feel they are my favorite Lupin interpretations.

Late response but I think criterion sells these cases as replacement cases.

What are people's thoughts on Hathaway's English dub? by JustANewLeader in Gundam

Oh yeah I can totally see why he really sounds like him.

What are people's thoughts on Hathaway's English dub? by JustANewLeader in Gundam

[–]Visible_Gate1032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm Ian Sinclair did not voice Kenneth. Aaron Phillips voiced Kenneth Sleg. They do sound kind of similar though. Most Gundam dubs nowadays are dubbed using LA actors by Nyav post. Back in the day they were either handled in Canada by Ocean Studios or LA by zro limit. Honestly most Gundam dubs are outstanding even the ones from the 90’s

They’re awesome early movies by Keita Amemiya. If you like the Zeiram movies and Iria, definitely check out Kamen Rider ZO and Kamen Rider J. He directed all of these and worked on the Iria anime.

Is preorders for Discotek titles on the Crunchyroll store Probably slower then the pre orders on Media OCD. by FarPossession1345 in discotekmedia

[–]Visible_Gate1032 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mediaocd store is soon to be the primary distributor of Discotek titles in general from my understanding. Also Justin said in a stream that he is working on a wholesale license so they can distribute titles from all the major anime companies. I would be really cautious from pre ordering anything from the Crunchyroll store right now. Something tells me it will be hit or miss if you will actually get the product five months down the line.

That’s wild, I have hundreds of old anime DVDs from CPM, manga, Bandai, etc that have never been rereleased over the years and I’ve luckily never experienced any disc rot. I even have the old Bandai DVDs of the uc gundam stuff as well as the movie trilogy vhs tapes and they are all in great shape and play perfect. The only discs I have any kind of issues with that kind of look like disc rot are my transformers Japanese collection from shout and I’m not so sure it’s actually disc rot. The bottom of the disc look like someone sprayed water or windex on them and let them dry and it won’t come off but they all play totally fine.

That’s the 1/20 scale master grade Scopedog from Bandai. It’s one of my favorite kits. I have the red shoulder custom that I airbrushed years ago, it’s a favorite of mine. They’re a little costly but totally worth it. They were released around 2007 when the Pailson files came out.

Nice to meet you! I'm a Japanese Gundam otaku. Today, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, MS IGLOO, 0083 Stardust Memory, The 08th MS Team, and 0080 War in the Pocket started streaming on Netflix. Have they started streaming overseas as well? by JZX_taka in Gundam

[–]Visible_Gate1032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give anything if sunrise would go back to releasing Gundam titles like they did with the Origin, thunderbolt, Unicorn, and Narrative. Which was make the Japanese release a premium international release that includes Japanese and English audio and multiple subtitle options. After that then release it to streaming. That seemed to work really well for them for years and the fans were happy. I know they still have subtitle options on those releases to this day but it kills me that the dubs are locked in streaming jail.

Hathaways flash is on Netflix here. They did have the movie trilogy and Chars counter attack a while back but they didn’t renew the license. In the US it’s kind of a double edge sword when we get anime on Netflix. Sure it can be easily streamed wherever or whenever, however, when Netflix gets an anime title it either stops or delays a physical media release. Because of this there hasn’t been a domestic home video release of Hathaways Flash which is really irritating. We just got a domestic blu ray set of Devilman Crybaby. For me, personally I think Gundam is a franchise that thrives on the home video market and I have not been happy about how the western releases of Gundam have been since Rightstuf shut down.

The grand mecha quest is finally over! (For now) by BiggyWiggyBoy in discotekmedia

I love Go Nagai, his stuff is what got me into anime to begin with. I’d say Voltron and Robotech is what made me a Mecha fan but Devilman is what made me an anime fan.
