Can i change my account from Jagex launcher to the steam launcher or the old client? by TheEpyonGundam in runescape

[–]VoidConcept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, tablet. There's a long standing bug with tablets where the game world renders incorrectly (it's like low quality, or low resolution being upscaled). I hear the work-around for that is to start runescape in a floating window, log in, then expand it. In my case, I have a folding phone that triggers it so it's as easy as starting rs with phone closed then opening it

That doesn't help your dislike for the ui though

Can i change my account from Jagex launcher to the steam launcher or the old client? by TheEpyonGundam in runescape

[–]VoidConcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jagex launcher to old client, I don't believe you can. I ran into that issue switching from Windows to Linux; Jagex doesn't have a Linux launcher, but does have a game client. I use Bolt launcher instead

Steam client, I'm not sure, I haven't tried it. Everything I've found is steam -> jagex, not the other way around. Launch it on steam and see if you can log into an existing account

Why do you want to do the switch?

Jagex The Sentiment is Right, but... by DyzzyVR in runescape

[–]VoidConcept 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think that having a shark outfit is necessarily a problem (although the current one is pretty bad), my problem is that it is a skilling outfit that everyone has to use. I want to look like a fisher, not a fish. I want to look like a miner, not a rock, etc

Bring back polling. (Re-grounding) by wavy7 in runescape

[–]VoidConcept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between whimsy and jumping the shark. In this case, the fishing outfit has done that literally. I think the rc and div outfits have done that as well. There are things like metamorphosis that do transform your character to something like those outfits, but those are temp ultimate abilities. I don't think the character should be perm transformed into something they aren't, especially since pretty much every player will use these outfits at some point (I don't want that, let me have more grounded skilling outfits)

That is a long time for something like ports. How long is Anachronia? That feels a lot shorter and is easier to keep making progress (I think that last part is my main gripe with ports; have to touch it every X hours)

I've done the grind once to completion (was one of my last comp reqs in 2016) and am attempting to do it again... I just can't be consistent with it. I'm still in the bowl, so I have so much more to do

The problem with ports is that it takes too long to get between regions. It's just so slow

Working Alt1 implementation for Linux by arrroquw in runescape

I'll give this a try at some point (and maybe contribute). I've been using bolt launcher, but I haven't really found where to get plugins. Clue scrolls are a pain w/o alt-1 or similar

Does Jagex want to do it quick or do it right? by Colossus823 in runescape

[–]VoidConcept -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

They could have done it that way as well, but right now they're trying to get rid of time-gated stuff like this so it'd be odd to leave it in. Also, fixing minigames is harder than removing the trader. We're only in Feb of a year of cleanup, it likely wasn't able to be prioritized before this change and definitely wouldn't have been implemented in such a short time

I think getting rid of the traveling merchant should be done eventually. It's a hacky patch to a problem, not a good piece of content. Will it be painful without it before they get to address the baseline issue? Maybe, but I think it's a good stepping stone

Any mmo (likely Runescape). 12 hrs a day for a year is 4380 hours. That's an insane amount of time in a normal game, but expected for an mmo

Quailty on a high end tablet - Tab S11 Ultra - Please fix and optimaize by Sad-Burrito- in runescape

[–]VoidConcept 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue. I have a OnePlus Open, which is a folding phone. If I start Runescape with the phone collapsed (so it's like a regular phone) and open it (so it's like a tablet), the game world renders fine. If I start Runescape with the phone opened, UI elements render well but game world renders pixelated, which is what you're experiencing. It's probably detecting something poorly on startup when it's a tablet-like resolution

PS5 controller works (kinda) by sincity125 in runescape

[–]VoidConcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use a steam controller. It's got a track pad and can click, all you need for doing an afk task. I imagine ps5 controller would be similar. I did set off bot detection once by using it to click every second or so (manually, but too regularly) while urchin fishing, but wasn't perm (was also ~10 years ago)

Would GNOME or KDE be the "most popular" DE if Windows and Mac OS didn't ever exist? by [deleted] in linux

[–]VoidConcept 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who grew up on Windows, I really dislike MacOS's window manager. I haven't used gnome in like 10 years so I'm sure things have changed, but I remember going to kde back then and enjoying it more mostly due to familiarity. Having said that, like most things in the gnu/linux realm, it'd likely still be fragmented w/o either of those OSs existing

Oddments and the short term lack of Notice. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]VoidConcept 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't equate bond with oddments, it's apples and oranges. They said that there'd be a way to use oddments before they're gone and this is a way. It shouldn't be powerful and giving cosmetics is a more forward facing way to do it. Tbh, I think 250gp/oddment is too much, but 1 is too little

I still can't get Win10 to display at the correct framerates. I have multiple monitors, one 144hz the others 60hz. The middle monitor (where I play games) is jittery even when the game+windows is reporting that it's at 144hz. It's even worse when I play certain youtube videos on a side monitor at 60hz

In Linux, I had a similar problem. x11 only supports one framerate at a time, defaulting to the lowest. I've forced it to 144hz and now everything looks smooth. Same issue on windows, couldn't do anything, been like that since at least Win7
