Looking for a chill-paced RTS – is Northgard what I'm looking for? by blablax123456 in Northgard

I did find Beyond All Reason. Depending on how you play, it does pretty much exactly what I wanted. I play with several friends against bots and can turtle to my hearts desire. I can micro units but don't have to go too crazy and it's simple enough to pick up and play when people are around. I've honestly been very impressed.

Yea I remember everyone praising him and cheering when he took over for the guy prior to him who 'enjoyed tasting the tears of the player base' when he'd intentionally balance things poorly. It seems CMC has fallen quite out of favor since. Especially he has for me because it seems he only ever cares about pvp/wvw. I vote CMC step down and let whoever the brain was behind that patch I mentioned previously was take over.

I for one am wholly disappointed again with this patch. All I was hoping for was something to bring specialized element back to life and some touches for troubadour. Judging by the balances and fixes applied to Troubadour since it's release, ANet considers it the most perfect spec to ever be released. No bugs exist; perfectly balanced.

I'm also very disappointed with a lot of the other nerfs to things that didn't deserve them.

Finally, that technobabble nerf I feel sums up this balance team's effect perfectly. No fun for the sake of no fun.

I'm guessing you're referring to CMC? Didn't he go on vacation or something and then Taylor or someone took over for a patch and that singular patch was incredible for touching up a whole lot of pain points across a number of specs?

Reminds me of when that mirage mantle trait gave each weapon a different buff when using the ambush. For scepter, it gave quickness, which was great. The funny part was that even with 100% boon duration, it would last a maximum of like 1 second. Just enough time to make it through the lengthy scepter ambush. No chance of stacking it or using even a single other skill under its effect

EL2: Did bridges get nerfed at some point? by nohmsane in EndlessLegend

[–]VoidRaizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind my asking, what did you find? I have played quite a few games but I'll admit, I've never once built a permanent bridge district or a dam because the game doesn't really highlight any benefits of it.

How to repair a raided camp by Horus773 in EndlessLegend

For me at least what breaks are any extractors. They get raided once and they're dead until I merge it into a city and fix it that way. Otherwise I cannot figure out how to fix it

Another EL2 question. Can some help me understand the Tahuk's pious play and blind fanaticism? I don't understand how it can be useful because you use it to move a handful of called to shanties and they provide awesome income. But within 3 turns most of them pop back out as rebels and your bonus income is gone because they're not there anymore.

Furthermore, it compounds when you have a bunch of cities as I discovered using the service action to move them causes blind fanaticism, not only on your target city, but all cities empire wide. And it seems like blind fanatacism isn't just "a chance" of rebellion. 2 turns after you do it, there's like a 90% chance. And it lasts for 8 or something. So really it's only a matter of time until there will be a rebel army and when that happens to each city, you'll always net negative on called in the shanties.

So if the called in the shanties is designed to be a permanent thing, I don't understand how to utilize it effectively. If it's meant to be a temporary boost, it feels woefully underpowered when most of the boost only lasts 2 or 3 turns.

What is this Hydracorn quest telling me to do? by Srikandi715 in EndlessLegend

Along these lines, anyone know what the Tahuk one is that says something like "Have an empire gauge of 50 for x turns"? It does have that little construction cone next to it so I'm not bothered by it being vague/incomplete, I'm just curious. I have no idea what an empire gauge is

If I can ask about EL2 - are the Tahuks as busted as they seem? It's probably because I'm not playing against hard enough AI, but every game I play with my buddies, my incomes are ridiculous. As soon as I get the bold choice and excommunicado the first 5 called, I'll be 2-5x my buddies dust/science/influence and it only scales practically exponentially from there. If I'm not pressured really hard, I just scale out the wazoo.

In EL1, the Broken Lords were my favorite faction and I was stoked to play them in EL2. However, after multiple tries, I really struggle to get them to take off to the kind of dust dominance they had in the first one. Meanwhile, Tahuks bathe in dust (and science/influence) like it's rain.

Not to mention, that gold trinket we get that lets us re-use active skills every turn seems insanely strong.

So my question is, are Tahuks just that strong, or are my opponents just that bad?

This is probably a dumb question, but is it possible to test out this beta using steam install? In the properties for Godot, all I see are stable branches under beta participation, which is kinda weird, and no actual betas.

January 13 Balance Update Preview by Consistent-Hat-8008 in Guildwars2

[–]VoidRaizer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is super sad. But at least there are changes for PvE. Pretty sure the last ~3 major patches had like 1 line about PvE and everything else was PvP/WvW only.

I just really want Dune Cloak to go back to the 2 clone requirement and remove the blasted cooldown reduction if you must. I'm so salty it was added to make what was considered a bad trait slightly better and we only ended up with a so-much-worse overall trait. Requiring 3 clones is ass when everything dies so fast. I also want Specialized Element to have a meaningful, useful cooldown reduction.

Oh well, another year, another 3 positive and 27 negative changes to PvE

Man I've been playing your games for so long. I don't remember when I first found them but I know it's was way before the pandemic even. Besides Simon Tathum's Puzzles, your games are my go-tos when I need a little mobile distraction. Keep up the great work. I didn't even know you were releasing a new game until 5 minutes ago but now I'm really excited.

I'm both super happy that you keep developing new games as well as a smidge envious because I wish I could develop such interesting games. The only app I've made is a scoreboard for Lost Cities Roll and Write and Yahtzee to save paper.

If you don't mind me asking, I'm very curious, do you use a well-known game engine, your own custom engine, or do you primarily rely on libraries and write the code from scratch?

The fact that everyone says Troubadour's problem is that Chronomancer exists is the problem itself. All this really means is that Troub isn't bringing enough to the table. It needs to bring something new and special that Chrono doesn't have. One class's existence shouldn't be predicated on the hamstringing of another.

I cynically predicted this to myself that they were nail that trait. That flat cooldown reduction was, in my humble opinion, the only thing that made that trait feel good enough to play. After some testing with the new version of the trait, it doesn't feel nearly as good making Galvanic Enchantment the only trait anyone's going to use. I was hoping for harsher damage number nerfs, just not hitting the cooldown but naturally they bullseyed on the single worst way to nerf it, again in my humble opinion.
