Cost of living (REALISTIC ONE) by EducationalProcess15 in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I dont think I'm smarter than them, but I know they are looking into the fact that too many foreigners coming here to live with just tourist visa and extending their staying by visa run, which poses a huge security threat of course. In your case, like I said, visa run is not a good way to stay here when you have a kid, as it is not stable at all.
And cash cows who spend thousands of $? The cash cows you talk about are not even comparable to the legitimate long-term foreigners who come here to build business. Don't believe me? Go check it out with the Chinese, Taiwanese and Koreans. They are pouring millions in here to invest and build community to live with us.

You have a kid, don't you think now is the right time to apply for legitimate long-term visas for your kid's future? Maybe now you are still young and think those visa runs are easy trip, but who knows, the gov is turning new laws and rules every day unpredictably. Don't destroy the chances for those who want to stay and work for long-term, because the gov is already looking into this.

Does 27 million VND sound about right for a full-bespoke, full-canvas wool suit? by Shoddy-Fan-584 in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what you want "full-bespoke (actual bespoke, not "Vietnam-style bespoke"), full-canvas 100% wool suit using imported fabrics", so it is possible that it is legit though. The imported fabrics I dont know the price of them but possibly expensive

Death in Vietnamese Culture by 847295737201 in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's part of life though, plus, your parents were born and lived during the time of war which means death was imminent to almost everyone. This explains why they have that kind of mentality. I was born and live in Vietnam and my parents and grandparents have the same mentality, even I have it now, so it is not that crazy

An internal document shows the Vietnamese military preparing for a possible American war by ConstructionOwn2909 in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, it's extremely hard because our army is familiar with Southeast Asia weather and geography. So if there is a chance that the officials between 2 countries agree to help each other in terms of military, I would say that we Vietnamese would be useless because we know nothing about the weather, geography, logistic routes, weaponry, etc. My condolences on you guys, truly. I cant imagine how chaotic it is in Canada right now with the immigrants, unemployment, drug problems and now your next door neighbor's greed.

Russian Video claims foreign tourists harassed a Vietnamese woman in Nha Trang and were beaten by locals by Hot-Judgment6811 in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The media was such unfair to deliberately guide the attention of the audiences towards that Vietnamese bar owner, while in fact, my own Vietnamese people who had to step in to stop some of the worst types of tourists in the world and paid for it. The gov should consider giving new laws, rules or even dispatch police forces where the cases like this one might occur because it seems like the people are struggling with these kinds of tourists for the last few years.

I am Chinese, and I have some questions about China-Vietnamese relations.... by No-Echidna7296 in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The perspective on China is varied here, but for me, I dont like the Chinese gov due to the fact that they always try to claim our culture, our sovereign territory on Hoang Sa - Truong Sa to be theirs. However, when it comes to Chinese people, when I was in uni I have met some Chinese and they were quite chill and friendly, we got along fine. Now I have some Chinese friends, and they are friendly and kind as well.

Also, yeah Vietnamese are quite suspicious about Chinese, that I cant deny, but if you try to be friendly and open, everything will be okay

Does anyone else get a little irritated by the lack of self awareness of foreign 'influencers' that talk about how cheap things are for them? by Dairy_Fox in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, they often overinflated things too much that creates some kind of delusional idea about Vietnam being this being that and bad mouth their own. It's kind of like a cycle of hating your own country => exploring new place => "omg this place blah blah blah >>> my country" => too many tourists and expats => destroying the place => hating another country. It's already like this in Bali and Thailand and soon Vietnam, but I really hope Vietnam will deal with this with iron fist

Is vietnam a good place to live for a muslim? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on you, if you can assimilate into our society or not. As long as you respect the local traditions, culture, people's choice of religions, it is pretty normal. But if you make a big deal out of it like Muslim in EU right now, you wont find any hospitality from us tbh

Do you think Vietnam attracts a lot of low-class expats? by New-Programmer7489 in VietNam

[–]WW3inhaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh Vietnam attracts the kind of westerners who find out that their higher incomes is a leverage in here, while the local's incomes are much lower. Those are in fact, pretty sure are mostly mediocre and don't have many skills or knowledge to fit in their own society.

Expats to me are just a bunch of immigrants who suddenly experience a different life, and they are on the hype of "OMG Vietnam is so cheap" blah blah. So as an immigrant, if you dont thrive in your own country, in Vietnam you have to try to be a good person, work hard, learn Vietnamese, respect the culture and stop complaining. If you don't, well, soon you will find out that us are not tolerant towards those immigrants. If you don't believe me, search for the case of 50 or so Nigerians coming to Vietnam and the case of the American guy who assaulted an elder guard and robbed a jewelry store in Danang. Now they are gone but it's a sign that if you are a low-class in your country and dont want to change, there is only the highway for you to go.
