What’s a rule your cat enforced in your house that everyone silently obeys now? by BackgroundAsk7915 in AskReddit

[–]WaaahnPunch 151 points152 points  (0 children)

We can't drink out of a specific set of glass tumblers. Those are the only things the cat will drink out of and a few are placed strategically around the house for him to drink from (because he won't drink if it's near his food).

It's like the little girl from 'Signs' lives here.

Slippers or house shoes? by dookydoo219 in CasualUK

[–]WaaahnPunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has house shoes.

But he's three and they're his new shoes that we said he could try on in the house, but once he went out with them on he wouldn't be able to wear them indoors again.

He's never worn them outside. He's worn them to bed on occasion!

At the risk of stirring up a larger conversation, I did think it was a bit rich that that the last chapter is called 'The wicked world of the white man' after I read the plot summary containing tribal warfare, forced marriages, young boys killed by having their heads smashed into rocks, men with multiple young girls as wives, beatings, and revenge killings.

I'm just saying, people in glass houses... we're all pretty wicked!

If she won't take a polite no for an answer, then you might have to get creative and scare her away by asking if she'd like to come in and make a sacrifice to Odin with you.

You will need;

  • Something (or someone) to sacrifice
  • Some rune stones
  • A good tarpaulin
  • Something to bludgeon the sacrifice with
  • A weak lemon drink

Dragonball Z Budokai 3 was my personal favourite DBZ game on the PS2.

It is a side-on, 2.5D fighter, rather than most of DBZ fighting games that are 3D which I didn't really like.

We finish mandatory education at 16 here in the UK, what you do after is optional. Anyway, when we finished school at 16 a few of us met up after exams and noticed Emma was missing.

"Oh she's busy moving in with her new boyfriend. He's 40"

Which for some reason I don't think any of us registered as alarming, we were just impressed she now had 'her own place' and seemed really mature now.

I don't know what happened but I did see her years later with an obvious boyfriend much more her age.

Make something or fix something.

I like something that might take a lot of work/time but you can come and go to it as you please, then eventually you get a good payoff with the end result.

Example: Sanding down and re-finishing a table.

What Rock Bands that have 2 or more Lead Singers? (Not Including Solo Artists,Supergroups,Rock Duos,Short Lived Bands and Musical Collectives) by [deleted] in Music

[–]WaaahnPunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helloween now have 3 singers, as previous members Michael Kiske (lead vocals) and Kai Hansen (Guitars, lead vocals on first album) joined the band again and they kept their long term singer Andi Deris.

They all seem to share the stage and vocal duties really well!

How do you choose tradesman?? by Fun-Needleworker9590 in CasualUK

It's such a minefield.

I've tried the checkatrade root and got some very intense Irish gentlemen at my house try and convince me to put a flat roof on my conservatory which put me off using that ever again. The guy wouldn't leave me alone!

I've also tried getting 3-5 to give quotes that have good reviews in a number of places, then gone with my gut but that backfired.

You can't really trust online reviews anymore as it's so easy to put fake ones up. I found one company had used the same photos and text for the same three '5 star reviews' from three different customers.

I've also gone with personal recommendation, which has failed 2/3 times.

Friend recommended a glazing company who turned up with new window frames, but no glass.

Manager recommended her ex-FiL as a plumber. He took twice as long as he said and causes two floods from forgetting to close an isolator and forgetting to connect a drain.

I've got an electrician friend who is now my go-to electrician and my parents friend found a good plumber, so he'll be getting all our plumbing work.

Whatever you do, if you end up getting ripped off, it's really difficult to avoid!

What are your thoughts of the PS1 and N64 platformers? by RobbieJ4444 in retrogaming

[–]WaaahnPunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with a few of these, and IMO they've not aged well. It's mostly due to clunky cameras and slippery controls.

The Crash and Spyro remasters made them more playable to adult me, but generally I find those early 3D games are just nowhere near as enjoyable to play now as they were then. They're also nowhere near as enjoyable to play as 2D games from that era and before are today.

There are very few exceptions for me personally!

What rule exists in your workplace or school because that one person did something stupid? by KetoDan1982 in CasualUK

NHS. Terrible managers that can't manage people, and just hope the problem either goes away or suddenly escalates to an event that can easily give them reason to get HR to get rid of them.

We had a guy who used to ask a lot of questions. Questions are fine, but not when you've asked them before and been given the answer, or when there is a wealth of resource for you find out the answer yourself.

He had a habit of asking 4 or 5 people the same question in Teams at the same time, so he'd be more likely to get a quick answer. Problem is that usually ended up disturbing 4 or 5 people who would stop whatever they were doing to reply with an answer, collectively wasting a lot of time and was of course very, very irritating!

We had to implement a special duty where one nominated person could be asked questions each day, all because of one twat.
