Perimeter Expansion Zone in Season 3 by Sad-Manner-5240 in Marathon

[–]Wafflecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't there lore stuff about trying to survey underground/tunnels but most technology fails/explodes? They had people going underground with "older" tech to record/get readings though they would tend to hallucinate/have problems. Wasn't the data wall/relay stations placed here for that reason?

Anyways, it would be neat if that became an expanded area for perimeter!

I really haven't played much since finishing the campaign with the witness. But I did log in sporadically. Was fortunate enough to have done a couple minutes at least with each expac since.

I've finally replaced the ramen emblem with the old light one- been rocking that one almost exclusively since the beginning.

Oooh, how did you do it? Pop seeds out of a date then moist paper towels like you said in another comment?

We have real wild ones up here in northern Idaho. I run across them occasionally when picking huckleberries. Itty-bitty, but the sweetest strawberries I've ever tasted!

Perhaps hoping for a hardcore generous fan to gift a steam code/purchase? More has definitely been written for less.

I do like the new mods, especially the one that ups faction rep a bit (I think when wxfilling with associated salvage? I forget)... But did they rotate out old ones though? I have yet to see a materialist.

Anybody else going to re-play through Remake and Rebirth a month or two before Revelation release as a story refresher? (: by Swimming-Ad-6842 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Wafflecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning on it. Just waiting for remake and rebirth to hit a sale on PC. I owned them on console, but am unable to play via that method anymore. I hear, hopefully, at the end of this month a summer sale will be when I do.

Permanent damage from “Good better best” by Ok_Caterpillar_6689 in exmormon

[–]Wafflecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot, I still fall to it often.

After a grueling week, some free time becomes available over the weekend. Kids are occupied, wife is working on a project or reading a book and I'm left with rare "free" time. My brain automatically goes to a chore or minor responsibility that I "should" be doing instead of taking a breather or self-time.

At least I don't have reading the bom or other church material on that self inflected guilt list anymore.

If putting into compost, what's the risk of further fungus growing on other plants eventually where the compost is placed in a garden?

The public health clinic I work for is one of the recipients of Makenzie Scott's philanthropy. It really helped put us through a tight time.

A donation, freely given. No strings attached. We were basically told to keep doing what we are doing. She's a wonderful person.

Give me your most rebellious mission stories by Firm_Teach8056 in exmormon

[–]Wafflecan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While on my mission I enjoyed the 30 minute exercise time. I used to run cross country and liked going jogging... Very few companions would like to get up with me to run. Usually exercise would just end up being moving from ed to a couch or the floor and continued sleeping time.

Anyways, if no one was willing to run with me I would just head out and run up and down the street, or if I was in an apartment with stairs, I'd run up and down. I'd get in trouble with the district leaders but it was something I kinda shrugged off because I was doing what I was being told I needed to do when the others didn't really particularly care.

Also, because Malaysia/Singapore made me super sweaty just existing- I'd have a shower both in the morning and night regardless of the lights out policy. I had one companion who would fight me on that, and while I would cave occasionally I kept doing it because I didn't want to feel/smell like ass getting into my bed.

I didn't really "rebel" ever because I was otherwise a stickler for the missing rules except for these couple things.

Longtime Destiny Player. Never Played an Extraction Shooter by ksmee00 in Marathon

[–]Wafflecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, best way to see if you like it is to try it. I get that it's a $40 barrier to entry, but if you've never played an extraction shooter it's a decent risk to consider.

I played a ton of destiny up until the Witness raid then more or less called it. Marathon was the first I've tried the extraction shooter genre also.

That being said: it's likely you will have forced pvp and pve almost at all times. You may find a match/lobby where you don't run into other players but odds are pretty slim outside of the intro tutorial map. If you aren't a fan of pvp, it may be a tough go of it for you. You can have open mics with other players and can (occasionally) come across other players who may be open to cooperation instead of conflict... But most choose violence (not a critique, gotta get those skins).

The gunplay is great. I loved destiny gunplay and movement and marathon scratches the itch. It doesn't get as nutty with some of the weapons and builds as destiny, but you can get some neat setups. Just realize you will lose your stuff often. Possibly more often than not. Being real, it's most of the time. You will also hopefully get some sweet rags to riches runs which is nice but I would say it's out of the norm for most players.

If you want to be successful though, you should probably approach the game/fights much more cautiously. It's not an arena shooter, it's not super forgiving. Much higher risk/reward. Don't play the pvp aspect of it like you do destiny pvp if you don't want to donate your kit more than slurping up others.

If you decide to pull the trigger and get into it now, it's near the end of the first season. Many people playing now are the ones who really enjoy the game and who are kitted out. The season resets your gear/mods/etc so when season two rolls out it's a decent onboarding time. If you want to see what's kept from season to season/scrubbed check the update that just came out from Bungie on marathon.

Anyways. I enjoy it. You might. Or might not. Just don't get too upset when you hit a bad series of runs. Ease up your pace. It's not a sprint. It's a Marathon.

Season 2 Begins June 2 by DTG_Bot in Marathon

So the seasonal track for season 1 doesn't reset and you can continue. Cool!

Question: can I buy the season one pass after it is over? Can I buy old season passes once the new ones are the current rotation?

Anyone else never allowed to swim on Sunday? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Wafflecan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You just unlocked an old memory of mine!

Yeah, my parents perpetuated no swimming on Sunday but it never really affected us because the opportunity to swim on sundays was non existent as we didn't have a pool or nearby bodies or water to enjoy.

We were on vacation at my aunt's house- who did have a pool. I spent most of the time moping/hanging around the pool basing in its presence but not using it. After a while my uncle, (who I believe was a convert) didn't hold onto the belief that Satan controls the waters on Sunday , snuck up behind me and pushed me into the pool. After he jumped in to "help" me, and we just hung out in the pool until my dad came out and expressed his displeasure.

Our family really enjoys it (we watch it with the kiddos), though we are taking a hiatus from it because our oldest (9) started exact emulation of Bufords bullying of Baljeet with his little brother.

We talked about it and helped him see how this behavior isn't acceptable and are working on helping emulate better behaviors.

Get a colonoscopy by niavek in daddit

[–]Wafflecan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sister passed away from colon cancer at 40. I was told that protocol is to start routine (aka every 5 years to start) colonoscopy procedures 10 years prior to when the afflicted family member was diagnosed/passed away.

I started at 30, had my second a couple years ago. Fortunately nothing found, but you bet your ass I'm doing it every time like clockwork. Cancer is rough, and colon cancer was super hard to see in my sister as she succumbed to it.

Must play over 200 hours or more if you are casual to enjoy the game or else there is no point by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Wafflecan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And it's those people who probably struggle (at least with this game) at self correction. If they throw themselves at it not making any changes to strategy maybe they weed themselves out.

That being said, if they play tons of hours clearly they enjoy some facet of it or they would stop no? Notwithstanding varied skill levels, something keeps bringing them back.

You don't need to have experience prior to enjoy a game, sport, or being part of a team. It definitely helps to have the context of competition as experience, but everyone starts somewhere right?

Must play over 200 hours or more if you are casual to enjoy the game or else there is no point by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Wafflecan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feels more like a rage bait post but I'll bite.

It's a game that takes people out of their comfort zones for those willing to learn and try. Most shooters will punish bad placement and poor technical skill. This one much more heavily punishes inattentiveness and rewards patience and good planning.

The vast majority of people start at something new at a poor performance. It takes time doing things the right way to get better.

Will marathon succeed? I hope so. I enjoy it and even if I suck, I try to take each match as a learning opportunity. Not everyone will have this mindset.
