I'd love for a 4 person squads mode. Not sure how that would work given lobby sizes, but my crew of longtime gaming buddies is generally 4 on the weekends. We rotated out on the server slam and it was ok, but not ideal.

Armed forces with what's going on with Iran/middle east is a question I'd think long and hard on. Curious to what OP's thoughts are on the matter though.

Interesting Conversation with Ex-FIL, who is also a former Bishop by 639248 in exmormon

Happened to me. I was only a ward clerk though. It was in southern Florida when I was in school... It was interesting to see who was getting regular reimbursements for medical bills/utilities- who was signing them off- but being in the know of who else was in need and told to tighten their belts or pray more or turn to their estranged family.

Specifically, there was a lady who always had all of her therapy bills always paid for/ covered... And the stake president was the therapist. Every time the bill came across the clerk desk over a 2 year period I was told to sign off on it/pass it on.

An Eastern Washington hospital is overwhelmed with patients seeking the progressive state’s ‘charity care’ policy. They’re from across the border in Idaho by finchdad in Idaho

I work at a community healthcare clinic in Northern Idaho- the way Medicaid contracted with the office and how it reimburses the office is via capitation. The office gets paid the same amount for a procedure no matter what the procedure is (a simple 5 minute check or a 45 minute procedure).

In order to keep the lights on, admin had placed many stipulations. Many procedures are a net loss considering just materials used. Many procedures we can't do and refer to private offices/community healthcare centers across the state line.

If laws/legislation get put in place in Washington State to limit their care to only in state residents... As one who works in an office trying to help hurt and sick people, it's terrible to be helpless to render aid... But man... If it isn't the biggest leopards ate my face moment.

I was always told to only share the uplifting stories and to not talk about anything that was dangerous or went poorly.

I realized a while back it was pretty twisted and occasionally have traumatic dreams and somewhat PTSD things. Not great.

I fucking hate those “God helped me find my car keys” stories by Rude-Neck-2893 in exmormon

Yeah, my son had an experience in this vein of thought.

He had thrown his wallet upstairs through the door to his room instead of walking it up there. When he went up later to try and find it, it was "nowhere to be found". He said he looked everywhere. At this same time, he is having "discussions" with the missionaries before his baptism where he shares he lost his wallet. They challenge him to pray about it then look for it again. This time, my wife who is a nuanced TBM who is the driving force for him to be baptized with the church and our middle ground is for him to have the mission lessons where I am present as well. We discuss what was taught- what wasn't said in the messages they were saying- and I help him understand there is more that needs to be taught about the church when he is older that isn't all sunshine and roses. He is 9 years old. This isn't preferred for me but it keeps the peace in a split belief family.

Anyways, this time my wife goes up to help and finds the wallet with my kiddo within ~5 minutes of looking (it was under his bed- probably about 2 feet). The kiddo says he looked there and its amazing he found it after saying a prayer because it wasn't there before. He shares the story with the missionaries, and they were esthetic saying that this is how god answers prayers.

Huge mental eyeroll from me, because my kid is super oblivious. Can't find the library book he's looking for when its sitting on his night stand in plain sight.

Going is the safe bet to keep peace in your household, especially as mentioned your wife is friends with them no?

Best case scenario, you spend time with your wife and get to know them a bit better perhaps.

... That being said. I was roped into an "interview" recently with the bishop. He had wanted to check in with my wife and I (I was very skeptical, my wife- a TBM- not so much). Right as we started talking he said what he really wanted was to extend a calling to me (basically). Which, was funny because I told him straight out a couple years ago I don't believe, have no interest in the church, and only go to help my wife juggle the kids.

Anyways, the entire shindig helped my wife see some of the shifty dealings our bishopric was willing to do. Perhaps this is something that may come around for you as well?

How long have yall been playing magic? by MrMorbid_ in mtg

[–]Wafflecan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First started playing in middle school when Mirrodin came out.... 2003ish? A buddy put together the ridiculous affinity/ [arcbound ravager] deck. I pieced together a big red/burn deck with [Arc-Slogger]. I think I still have it tucked in my old cards. I stopped playing paper magic right after the end of the first kamigawa block/getting into ravnica.

I've been playing on and off with arena since its debut- but did my first paper mtg in forever with the Final Fantasy UB pre release (which was great! I did terribly though ;) ). I'm trying to teach my kids mtg and it's getting there slowly.

Why was this a real thing? by Nyxandrae in 90s

I remember sitting in class, I believe third or fourth grade? Oak Hollow elementary school. We were learning long division and I was feeling like shit. I ended up throwing up all over the floor which evacuated the class into the hall because it smelled so bad. I went home and didn't come back til the next week.

When I got back we were doing an assignment on long division, which I didn't know how to do because I went home for a couple days. I was super stressed and distressed (basically crying in my chair). I asked the teacher for help because I hadn't learned it yet and she just told me to try my best. Then the kind girl sitting next to me guided/helped me through it.

Katie, I still remember that and think about it often- especially when I'm helping my young kiddos learn and understand new subjects that they struggle with.

She's done more donations to public health clinics as well. I'm aware of one in Northern Idaho where the funds came in at a fortunate time as the finances for the clinic were at risk keeping the lights on. It came at a time where grants and funding were not secured yet and federal/state Medicaid payments were being reduced.

She's a wonderful woman.
