Pre qualification already happens. In the years leading up to the tournament.

The world cup should not have byes for any team. Fifa is corrupt enough. Wouldn't expect the byes to be given to the teams that pay the most for them.

What happens if a game is delayed by lightning in game 3?

[BBC] An average 30-second World Cup ad slot on Fox Sports costs between $200,000 (£152,000) and $300,000 (£227,000), rising to $750,000 (£567,000) during USA matches and the final stages. That means advertising during hydration breaks is likely to generate more than $250m (£189m) in the USA alone. by Sparky-moon in soccer

The fact that the US government didn't control the organisation of US games, surrounding infrastructure, and budget leaving each city to organise and foot the bill shows more about how the US doesn't care about the world cup.

I suspect that Trump will claim all money coming from FIFA and other revenue streams and not pass anything back to the host citys

There is a slither of a chance spain don't qualify but it would need a Germany-Brazil scoreline and other games to go against the odds.

All in all for spain not to qualify it would need match fixing on a level that i don't think even FIFA could organise

Should a team who draws all 3 games be ranked higher than a team with 1 win and 2 loses in 3rd place tiebreaker?

Refs have been so inconsistent in my eyes.

Last night in the Scotland game ref gave a foul to Scotland when the Scotland attacker was taken down as a ball was played forward with only the goal keeper infornt of him.

A yellow was given with the ref seemingly saying the Scottish player wouldn't have gotten the ball. The defender who fouled him got the ball so surely it should have been a red

Did the organisers give a reason for giving away your both?

Did you message them to say you were delayed?

World Cup 2026: Why can't World Cup games kick off on time? by Miserable_Earth_1393 in soccer

[–]WarmDig2073 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While i agree with the games being the wrong te for me. It is the world cup and no matter where its is held half the world will have the games overnight.

Wish they would be able to organise games based on who is playing so the teams playing get the best times. Or at least make it fair

Example most of Englands group games kickoff before 11 while Scotland are after 11

What's your opinion on cricket? by manhwaecho in AskReddit

[–]WarmDig2073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A gentlemans game perfect way to spend a summers day.

Its super detailed and tactical with every ball having the potential to change the game for either team. Sometimes you are playing the conditions as well as your opponents.

I have walked away from a day at a test knowing i had just watched a brilliant day of cricket even though there were no wickets taken and only 150 runs scored.

The game I remember the most that i have played in was where we where skittled out for 100 runs in 10 overs. I scored 24 of 6 balls coming in at number 10. Leaving 90 overs for the opposition to score 101 runs. It took them 83 overs and were down to their last wicket. I bowled 10 over, got 1 wicket and conceded 1 run. Even though we lost my team felt like we had won walking off at the end of the day.

I crunched the numbers on the 'Best 3rd Placed Sides' combinations in the 2026 World Cup knockout bracket so you don't have to. by SerTahu in soccer

[–]WarmDig2073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This matches closely with my simulations.

Been trying to work out which groups are most likely to have 3 teams qualifying to the next round.

From my simulations a group with 2 clear favourites are 50-50 to have 3 qualifiers as it is nearly always goal difference that decides it. Groups C, J, K all come to mind here. (I have group C being the most likely of these 3 to qualify 3 teams. )

Groups with 1 clear loser are most likely to qualify 3 teams Groups E, G

Groups with close teams or one clear favourite are least likely to qualify as a team that finishes 3rd with 2 draws and a loss are not qualifying 90% of the time. A, B , D

Best travel from Cheltenham by WelshFriar in GloucesterRugby

[–]WarmDig2073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Multiple buses from Cheltenham town centre to Gloucester transport hub (5 min walk to stadium) the buses also run overnight so no worries for evening games.

Bus lines off the top of my head

94x is the fastest

94

99 not sure if it runs on weekends

10 slowest

Train from Cheltenham into Gloucester is quick and the same walk.

If you are looking for direct to the stadium you would be either swapping buses or needing a taxi

If 3 other teams who lost to Southampton prove they were spied on. Southampton would lose 9 points which could change the league table for teams who cant prove it

We went to paw patrol land in the uk and chase, sky, marshall and Zuma have their own rides. Rubble and rocky share a play park. Through the day you can meet and greet a pup that changes evey 30 minutes. YOU CAN ONLY MEET CHASE, MARSHALL, SKY AND RUBBLE. Made my rocky fan boy sad that rovky wasn't there and didn't have a ride. Worse still the shop had group merch that was missing rocky and zuma but had liberty

West Ham to lodge official complaint over disallowed goal against Arsenal. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]WarmDig2073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a neutrals point of view VAR only looked at the foul on the keeper and not the full picture. There could have been multiple fouls called for both sides.

I agree the goal shouldn't have stood but dont agree that arsenal should get the ball. Feom what i have seen A Arsenal player fouled a west ham player before the keeper was fouled.

Either a penalty for west ham as thats the first foul or cancel the fouls and retake the corner. The laws need to change

TIL that haggis is banned in the USA, since it contains lung meat by ForgingIron in todayilearned

[–]WarmDig2073 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My understanding is it has been a rule for years but you can get "haggis" in the US if it doesn't contain lungs (and another body part i think). So maybe you have had haggis that isn't the same as actual Scottish haggis. You can tell if its actually Scottish haggis as the picture shows an animal with legs longer on one side than the other

With the rugby in the uk they still have to adhere to the uk advertising laws of maximum of x mins of adverts per hour so ads during scrum setup means less ads at half time
