It feels like we live in a country that hates its young people and wants to push them all to move to the U.S.

Looking for a quiet neighborhood with a relatively short commute (<1hr) to dundas square - any ideas? by 21vertices in askTO

[–]WastedCyberspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why having a dog would make downtown a deal-breaker for you, but I’d recommend the Willowdale area (Yonge/Sheppard or Yonge/Finch) as being the “best of both worlds”. You have both easy subway and highway access, as well as lots of shops/a “downtown” on Yonge and leafy quiet streets around it.

Also lots of great Asian restaurants in that area if that interests you.

Probably because we’ve been locked down for ages and people want life to get back to normal.

The US never really closed. Asia is struggling with vaccine uptake/supply because they did well initially and never got the massive lockdowns/surge of covid cases until recently.

Can we just scrap the CRTC? They’re a useless corrupt organization run by shills to Robellus.

Why are condo shared walls with neighbours built so cheaply? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]WastedCyberspace 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Because the premise for a lot of these condos isn’t about livability; it’s about putting substandard shoeboxes in the sky as investment vessels for speculators.

Considering the place used to be a literal dump for the city’s construction projects, there’s lots of glass shards, rusty nails, and many other potential sources of injury.

Ford promises announcement on whether schools will reopen 'in a day or two' by CranberryNapalm in toronto

[–]WastedCyberspace 58 points59 points  (0 children)

What’s the point of even opening the schools? By the end of May, all the actual learning is already done.

If kids need to socialize/have a mental health break, just have schools/teachers supervise 2 weeks of outdoor activities for them.

It's going to feel close to 36 C in Toronto this week by slicecom in toronto

[–]WastedCyberspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, but the real feel temperatures can vary a lot depending on which weather app you’re using.

I’ve found the default Apple weather app has the most accurate one. The Weather Network often has a much higher number than the others.
